EXPERIENCE
There are two vital
points in the drug bus
iness; experience and
with her father, Mr. T. W. Ed
wards, near Jackson.
•
Mrs. Pope, who has been with
her daughter, Mrs. N. K. Vick
ers, will go to Jackson soon to
visit Mrs. T. M. Maddox.
Miss Annie Waldrop, who has
beep teaching in the Fairburn
High Schools, visited her father
and mother here last Sunday.
Fanners are getting greatly be
hind with their farm work owing
to the heavy rains, but Provi
dence never makes mistakes, it
will come out right in the end.
Mrs. Wilson Smith has gone to
Juliette for a two week’s stay
with her son, Dr. W. J. Smith.
Before returning she will also
visit Dr. B. L. Smith at Cabaniss.
Mr. J. 0. Cole informs us that
the Farmers’ Union will build a
magnificent ginnery at Cole’s
cross roads before the ginning
season is on, and it will be con
trolled entirely by the Union.
We read Dr. Mays on the issues
of the day in last week’s paper,
and wish to say that it is right to
the point. The Doctor is thor
oughly acquainted with the
money question. Let us hear
from you again, Doctor.
Hon. Wilson Smith attended
the memorial exercises at Jack
son last Saturday. The Captain
is enthusiastic in praise of Col.
Grice’s speech. Col. Grice’s
father was colonel of the 45th
Georgia regiment of which Mr.
Smith was a member.
The Ocmulgec river is on a
high horse at this writing, has
delayed the work on our electric
plant temporarily. We farmers
are looking forward with pride
to the time when this great plant
will be completed. We expect to
do everything by electricity, even
to spanking the baby.
We congratulate our young
friend, Hugh Mallett, of Jackson,
on capturing the medal offered
by the Daughters of Confederacy
for the best essay on the Confed
erate Soldier of the 60’s. We
have predicted even greater hon
ors for Hugh, and when he has
attained them we will then tell
you why we predicted them for
him.
We wish to thank you for your
editorial in last’s week’s paper.
We people down here are in line
with you. While we haven’t
yet got the ‘ ‘4O acres and the
mule” there has been great
progress made. These great re
form movements don’t succeed
all in a few days. Let’s don’t
give up the fight until we have
fine control of both our state and
national governments. We are
exceedingly glad to know that
we have a man at the helm of
our county paper who is not
afraid to speak his honest con
victions. Success to you and
your paper. Bill.
