PERSONAL AND LOCAL A little gossip about the doings of folks you know and don’t know Howard Garr was in Jackson Sunday. Miss Vallie Garr was in town Wednesday. Otis Ball left Tuesday night for Savannah. J. H. Pope visited Jackson rel atives Saturday. E. L. Lawson represented Flo villa here Monday. Tom McKibben was at home Sunday and Monday. Pitts McKibben was down from Cedartown Sunday. Homer Carmichael spent Sun day at Indian Spring. Ernest Hanes enjoyed Saturday and Sunday in Macon. Miss Nina Harris is visiting friends in Locust Grove. Joe Wall will visit Jackson friends at an early date. Mrs. A. D. Catchins was taken very ill Sunday afternoon. Miss Bessie White was a visitor to our town the first of the week. Dr. Van DeVenter returned Tuesday night from Hot Springs, Ark. Mr. Partridge was one of Flo- visitors to Jackson Tues day. Misses Ada Johnson and Fan nie Ridgeway were in town Sat urday. Mr. J. L. Tingle and daughter were in from High Falls Monday trading. H. G. Entrekin went to Bre men Saturday, and returned Tuesday. Miss Ethel Logue will take the Normal course at Athens this summer. Mr. Paul Collier and Miss Car rie were up from Indian Spring Tuesday. Miss Lilley McClure attended Locust Grove commencement Tuesday. Mr. Jim Collins and wife, on route 3, were shopping in town Saturday. Misses Nancy and Kate Head, of High Falls were in shopping Monday. Mr. G. R. Ridgeway and dau ghter, of Eigin, were in town Monday. Rev. Dodson, of College Park, spent Friday night with Capt. Wallthall. Miss Blanche Barnes, of Stark, visited Mrs. J. E. Hanna the week-end. Miss Trudie Maddox is enjoy ing this week with relatives at Worth ville. The Progress phone, 166. Miss Saidee Carswell is the at tractive guest of her aunt, Mrs. W. J. Wood. Mr. Sam Foster, a prominent Butts county planter, was in the city Monday. J. C. Kinard was out of the store Monday. His absence was due to sickness. Mrs. Annie Webb visited her sister, Mrs, Brown at Locust Grove, Tuesday. Dr. White and little girl, Vir ginia, were visitors to the city early in the week. Mrs. J. W. Childs was in Jen kinsburg Sunday with her sister, Miss Ida Gilmore. Dr. and Mrs. R. A. Franklin returned Monday from a short visit to Barnesville. Miss Nellie Cole was the charm ing guest of Miss Pearl Maddox the past week-end. Mr. Coker, of Henry county, was shaking hands with his Jack son friends Monday. Charlie Sims and wife were among the busy buyers from Towaliga Saturday. Mr. H. L. Grant, on route 3, was shaking hands with his Jack son friends Monday. Mrs. Nora King spent Sunday and Monday in Atlanta with her sister, Mrs. Townlqy. Miss Estelle Thornton, visited Misses Addie and Irene Moore, at Locust Grove, Sunday. Miss Sallie Mae Fletcher’s many friends are glad to see her at home from Brenau. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Adams visi ted their son, Mr. Ernest, in At lanta first of the week. Mrs. Robert Carmichael will entertain her Sabbath School class Thursday evening. Miss Cassie Maddox spent the commencement days at Locust Grove with Miss Snead. Miss Bessie Thaxton and Tom Thurston went to Forsyth Sunday to see Miss Maggie Bell. S. M. Pope and R. L. Smith went to Flovilla Sunday to hear Bishop Galloway preach. Miss Alice Mae Hanes returned Sunday night from a short stay with relatives in Atlanta. Mr. Boring, Emmette Wallthall and Walter McCord enjoyed Fri day at High Falls, fishing. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Maddox of Peeksville, visited Mr. and Mrs. Ike Wilson last week. Miss Sallie Mae Ball visited Miss Willie Terrell, at Flovilla, Friday night and Saturday. Willie Lee Nutt, Jim Finley and Emmet Wallthall spent Wed nesday fishing on the Ocmulgee. Miss Annie Lou McCord, who has been teaching at Meridian, Miss., is expected home Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. P. R. Watkins and Wade spent Sunday here with Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Jamer sor. Mr. Griffin, of Cedartown, has been the guest at the home of Mr. P. M. Ray’s for the past few days. Call Central—she knows the right number. Mrs. Lou Speer came Saturday night from Atlanta to spend Sun day with her sister, Mrs. Geo. Hanes. Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Rev. Elam Dempsey and wife left Tuesday for a three week’s stay in Atlanta with Mrs. Demp sey’s relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Warthen and baby, after a pleasant visit to relatives in South Georgia, have returned home. Mr. and Mrs. Coppage have moved into the house which was recently vacated by Mr. and Mrs. Walter Thornton. Mrs. J. M. Bosworth, of At lanta, was an appreciated guest of her dauphter, Mrs. J. E. Woods, last Friday. Mr. John Stilwell, of Elberton, visited the families of Mr. Jim Ball and Mrs. Sallie Ball from Friday until Monday. Col. and Mrs. Lucian Ray and daughter, Eva went to Athens Friday to attend the funeral of Mrs. Ray’s mother, Mrs. J. J. Chandler. Mrs. Verna Wright and children who have been visiting in Mc- Donough and Atlanta for several days, returned home Monday Morning. Mr. and Mrs. D. N. Carmich ael and Nadine Leach went over to Griffin Friday to visit Mrs Will MaLair. They returned Sunday afternoon. Commencement sermon will be preached at the school auditorium next Sunday morning by Rev. James Bradley. Everybody come out to hear him. Chief Justice Fuller and Judge Emory Speer will be among those who will attend the meeting of the bar association at Indian Spring next week. Mrs. Bluma Carmichael and Mrs. H. W. Copeland with their children had a delightful visit to Flovilla Tuesday as the guests of of Mrs. Mote Watts. Mr. Troy Wise, wife and daughter, Annis Gene, came down from Atlanta Friday and will be with the family of Mr. J. C. Meredith for a month. The Epworth League will hold its regular meeting in the lecture room of the Methodist church, Friday evening at 7:30. All mem bers are urged to be present. Mrs. R. E. Stanfield will re turn home Saturday, accompanied by her daughter, Miss Jane, who | has been a pupil at Washington Seminary the last scholastic year. The friends of Miss Cleo Car michael are gratified to hear that she has been very much benefit ed at Robertson’s Sanitorium in Atlanta. She will remain two weeks longer. Mrs. M. B. Potts and daughter, Miss Ada Potts, returned Monday to their home at Collier’s Station, after spending a few days pleas antly with Mrs. R. W. Oxford and Mrs. Minnie Williams. Many pretty parties are plan ned for next week in compliment to Miss Bessie Powell, whose marriage to Mr. Newton, of Jack son, will take place early in June. —Newnan’s dots in Sunday’s Journal. i , Misses Alice Mae Hanes, Sai dee Carswell, Dollie McKibben, Bessie Waldrop, Messrs. Boyd McMichael, Fred Ball, Pitts Mc- Kibben, and Joe Edwards went to Locust Grove Monday after noon to see the ball game between Jackson and Locust Grove. The approaching marriage of Mr. Tom McKibben and Miss Lillian Daniel, of McDonough, was read with interest by their friends in Sunday’s Journal. Miss Daniel has been a much admired guest to our city, and won many friends. A jolly crowd of Jacksonites went to the camp ground Friday and spent the day on a picnic, enjoying themselves generally. This congenial party was com posed of Mr. Kinsman, Mr. R. R- McCord and family, Mrs. Dixie McKibben and children, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Outhouse, Miss Ab bie McCord, Misses Annie Gil more, Fannie Barnes, Lilly Childs, Eva Key Bailey, Smith NOW is the time to build.
