Shellman the early part of the
week after a fortnight’s visit to
Jackson relatives.
Miss Stella Swanson, milliner

Smith Cos., left Tuesday for
Union Springs, Ala.

rived Friday evening from Dallas
and will be with Mr. and Mrs.

After a fishing trip of three
weeks in South Georgia, Messrs

Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Robison
and children had a delightful
visit to Judge and Mrs. F. C.
Hammond at Elgin Friday.
Mr. Rufus Brown enjoyed Sun
day here with his family, who
are spending the summer with

Rev. and Mrs. Elam Dempsey
left Friday for Atlanta where
they will visit for a few days be
fore returning to Dahlonega.
Capt. E. J. Williams, wife and
son, James, left Saturday for
Ty Ty, where they will visit Capt.
Williams family for a month.
Miss Mattisu Ham left Monday
for Gainesville where she has ac
cepted the chair of mathematics
in the Brenau Summer School.
Mrs. T. F. Jaugstetter came
Saturday from Forsyth and will
visit her sisters, Mrs. Oxford and
Mrs. Minnie Williams for a week.

Mrs. Emma Daniel, of Han
cock county, is here, having been
called to the bedside of her sister,
Mrs. J.’W. Crum, who has been
very ill.
The friends of Mr. A. F. Whit
ney are glad to know that he is
improving and able to sit up, but
is still at Elkin Goldsmith’s San
itorium.
Mr. W. T. Crawford of Cairo,
who is a guest at the Wigwam,
entertained Misses Newton’s
house party at dinner, Saturday
dinner.
Miss Alice Newton, a beautiful
young lady who has been a mem
ber of the Misses Newton’s
house party, left Tuesday for her
home in Forsyth.
The families of Messrs. H. L.
Daughtry and R. W. Oxford are
at home after spending two
weeks at Indian Spring with
Miss Jennie Bryans.

While in Jackson they were the
guests of Misses Benton and

Messrs. W. T. Crawford and
George Wright have returned to
Cairo after spending a week at
the beautiful home of Mr. and
Mrs. W. A. Newton.
Miss Willie Mae Carswell, who
has been the attractive guest of
her aunt, Mrs. W. J. Wood, for
three weeks, returned to her
home in Macon Saturday.
Miss Bessie Barnes left Sunday
for Knoxville, Tenn., to enter the
summer school. She was ac
companied to Atlanta by her
father, Mr. W. H. Barnes.
Misses Lurline Lawson and Eu
nice Ragsdale, two very charm
ing young ladies of Flovilla and
Locust Grove, were guests of
Miss Ada Bell Johnson the past
week.
Mrs. S. P. Wiggins is spending
this week in Atlanta with her
cousin, Mrs. C. H. Johnson,
while Mr. Wiggins is in Thomas
ton attending the District Con
ference.

popular house party guest went
to Griffin Tuesday to visit her
sister, Mrs. T. E. Patterson, be
fore returning to her home in
Newnan.
Mr. C. A. Towles, a well
known Butts county man has ac
cepted a position with the South
ern railway as stock-claim agent.
He has a territory of five hun
dred miles. /
Mr. Jim Land has been great
ly missed by his many Butts
county friends from the Car
michael-Etheridge-Smith Cos. the
past week. His absence was due
to sickness.
Mr. and Mrs. D. N. Carmichael
will leave next week for a visit
of six weeks to their children,
Mrs. C. T. Singleton, Messrs.
Obe and Slaton Carmichael in
Denver, Col.
Mrs. Jim Kinard and little ones
are spending the week with Mrs.
S. B. Kinard, and will have the
pleasure of attending the pro
tracted services at the Presby
terian church.
Mrs. J. E. Hanna left Sunday
night for Live Oak Florida, to
see her mother, who is ill. As
soon as Mrs. Ewing is able to
travel she will accompany her
daughter home.
Mrs. George Lanier, with her
two bright and interesting child
ren, came Saturday afternoon
from Americus and will visit Mrs.
F. S. Etheridge en route to her
home in West Point.

Mr. and. Mrs. White Jamer
son went over to Zebulon Mon
day to visit relatives for a week.
From there Mr. Jamerson will
return to Augusta, while his
wife will come back to Jackson.

relatives. Mrs. Plunkett re
turned Monday morning while
the children remained in the city
