Mrs. Charles Mayfield of Flo

Freeman of Iron Springs spent
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Jim
Watson.
On the charge of assault with
attempt to rape, Pat Patterson,
colored was arrestedlast week
and lodged in jail. Tom King,
another negro, was arrested on
the charge of assault with at
tempt to murder, and was put
behind the bars pending trial.
Mr. G. B. Carreker is now fill
ing the position, temporariallv,
of Mr. Frank Smith Carmichael
at McKibben Company. Both
these young men will resume
their former positions as soon as
Mr. Carmichael’s health will per
mit. Mr. Carreker was with the
First National bank.
Mr. J. C. Adams has installed
a harness and repair shop in
front of the building occupied by
the Jewel Bottling Works, on
Second street. He will also han
dle soft drinks. This stand is
an ideal one for this business,
and he will doubtless meet with
success. Go around and see him.
Mr. G. S. Hanes has returned
from Atlanta, where he met with
the members of the State Optical
Convention, which met in that
city this week. Mr. Hanes was
among the guest of honor at the
banquet at the Piedmont, which
was given by the local members
of the association Tuesday even
ing.

Mrs. A. F. Ericson and chil
dren leave soon for Seattle,

future home in Washington.
