citizen and prominent Confeder
ate veteran, will be an applicant
for re-appointment as Sexton of
the City Cemetery under the
new administration.
Mr. Cawthon has filled that po
sition most acceptably for the
past several years. His work
speaks for itself. He has impro
ved and beautified the cemetery
materially and it is now one of
the most attractive in the entire
country. Mr. Cawthon gives the
position his undivided time and
is interested in the work.

Cawthon are interesting them
selves in his behalf and when his
name is presented for considera
tion to Citv Council it is certain
that he will have a fine list of re

Officers Named For Year
Wednesday
The annual city election held
Wednesday was a quiet affair,
only 47 votes having been cast.
There was but little interest
manifested in the election, the
primary of December 22 having
disposed of all the contests. All
the nominees received the full
quota of votes polled.
The new administration will
take up its work about the 15 of
this month.

EXECUTIONS WILL BE
ISSUED NEXT MONDAY
At a recent meeting of Council
Mr. W. H. Wilson. Tax Collector,
was instructed to issue execu
tions against all who fail to pay
their city taxes by Monday, Jan
uary 11. Up to the present a con
siderable number of citizens have
neglected to pay their city taxes.
Mr. Wilson, acting under in
structions from Council, will be
gin to issue executions promptly
next Monday morning.

TAX COLLECTOR BRYANT TO
CLOSE BOOKS IN FEW OAYS
It is understood Mr. C. S. Bry
ant, Tax Collector, will close his
books in the next few days. The
Comptroller General, Wm. A.
Wright, has instructed tax col
lectors throughout the state to
make every effort to collect the
taxes at once, as the state needs
the money. In Butts county there
are several thousand dollars un
collected and Mr. Bryant urges
those who have not already done
so to settle at once and save him
the trouble of issuing executions.
