Telephone No. 166. Communications are welcomed. Cor respondents will please confine them selves to ?00 words, as communications ever that length cannot be handled. Write on one side of the paper only, sign your name, not for publication, but as an evidence of good faith. Whoop up hog and hominy. Give preference to Georgia products. Insist on home-grown, home manufactured goods. Buy home products wherever possible and insist upon the other fellow doing the same. If the rain continues for a few weeks longer we’ll bet on a re duced cotton acreage. I ■ The advertised article will bear inspection. Can you say as much for the product that is never ad vertised? This is one year everybody should forget about politics and put in a good year’s work for home enterprises. The cotton crop of Butts county last year was one of the largest ever grown. This year let the grain crop be a record one.— Is the day of the city court j numbered? Butts and Monroe abolished their intermediate courts and Spalding is likely to follow suit. ===== Hundreds of people are blam ing their misfortunes on the Eu ropean war who were already down and out, sagely remarks the Griffin News. The Progress insists that this county should have a flour mill. The sooner it is built the better. This section must begin to raise its wheat and make its own flour. The Spalding county grand jury recommended a bond issue of $50,000 for public improvements. Bonds are being voted by a num ber of cities and counties at this time. Judge Charles L. Bartlett has been mentioned for judge of the new federal court which it is pro posed to establish in south Geor gia. He would have strong sup port should he seek the place. The Macon News wants to see i Tom Watson write a history of Georgia. He is qualified to turn out; a history tha t would be a credit to the state and it is hoped that Mr. W r atson can be induced to attempt the work. After a lot of talk and wind jamming, during which time the South will be vilified by the nor thern press, the Monticello lynch ing will be entirely forgotten and there will probably be no indict ments at all. This is the history of such eases. “The marry a Georgia girl” slogan is carrying the patronize home-enterprises campaign to a logical and happy solution. If Editor Bloodworth of The Mon roe Advertiser could only be in duced to see it in this light. The Anderson boys are making The Macon Telegraph a better paper than formerly, if possible. “The Old Reliable” is one of the best papers in the South, print ing an abundance of live, clean, constructive state news. The Griffin News and Sun is now forty-four years old. It is among the best papers in the state and the friends of Editor R. L. Duke wish him and the bright paper he edits many more years of success and usefulness. The city court of Griffin is in danger. The recent grand jury recommended that the people vote on whether the court should be continued. The city court of Griffin is one of the oldest in the state but when the people vote on the matter, good bye court. The Macon Telegraph is rap ping certain methods of the bank ruptcy courts. The bankruptcy law has had its day and probably served a good purpose once, but there are a lot of people who will tell you the law ought to be re pealed. A lynching is an unfortunate outbreak sf lawlessness and as likely to happen in one state as another. The northern press should remember those who live in glass houses should be careful about casting stones.—Butts County Progress. Have happened in nearly all states.
