Mr. and Mrs. Howard Smith spent Sunday with the former’s brother, Mr. Kenny Smith, at Rocky Hill. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Towles and Mr. C. A. Towles left Sun day morning for Hawkinsville where Mr. and Mrs. Albert Towles will make their future home. Miss Ruth Hays, while riding a motorcycle Sunday morning, fell and was very seriously in jured, spraining her right arm and suffering a severe cut on her face and several other dangerous bruises. She has much sympa thy and we hope she will soon be able to resume her duty in the school room. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smith spent Sunday afternoon with the family of Mr. Van Smith. Mr. A. H. Pope spent Sunday! with Mr. Edmond Hay at Rocky Hill. Miss Laurett Smith entertain ed several friends at a rook par ty Saturday evening. Little Charles Roney. Jr., is very ill of tonsilitis. Lavender has been quite sick for the past few days, but we are glad to know that she has greatly improved. Mrs. Claud Norsvvorthy and Mrs. Earl Roquemore visited rel atives at the dam Thursday. The friends of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Tyler sympathize with them in the sickness of their infant son, and hope for him a speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Smith visited relatives at Union Ridge Sunday. Miss Ruby Maddox visited Miss Irene Moore Sunday. Mrs. 0. E. Smith spent Friday with Mrs. J. S. Tyler. Services will be held at Union Ridge Sunday morning at 11 o’clock. Everybody invited to attend. The school at Union Ridge is in full progress with Mr. William Preston as teacher. He is much liked by both patrons and pupils. If this escapes the waste bas ket will come again. Daisy. Jenkinsburg School Notes Our first month of the new year has given us excellent re sults. We feel much encouraged with the work accomplished. On Friday evening, Jan. 29. the juniors entertained us with a spelling bee which was a grand success socially and financially. The Juniors certainly did well. Dewey and Forest Bankston were the champions. Dewey’s side was successful, Shirley Swetnam, one of the Senior girls, carrying away the large box of fine candy. Several of the older folks took part and showed them how it was done in the olden days. Mr. T. W. Moore, Mr. W. J. Bankston, Mrs. J. W. Harper, Floyd Glass and Gordon Bankston were among those who stood longest. Bernard Harper of the eighth grade had the honor of conduct ing a recitation in reading as a reward for good work and de portment in the past week. W. W. Swetnam. Mrs. E. A. Cawthon is expect ing her sister, Miss Zulie Elder, and brother, Mr. Lester Elder, of Macon, Friday, to spend a few days. Mrs. McGough and daughter, Miss Margaret, have rooms at Mr. J. A. Moss’. We are glad to have them with us. Mrs. E. A. Cawthon and Miss Inez Brinkley spent Saturday in Jackson. Miss Ruby Cawthon. of Jack son, spent the week-end with her cousin, Miss Nelle Ingram. Mrs. Turner, of Locust Grove, visited relatives here Sunday. Mrs. R. C. Woodward and chil dren, returned to Atlanta Satur day after a pleasant visit to rel atives. The Ministers and Laymens meeting, which was held at the Methodist church Friday, was well attended. Some of the prom inent visitors were: Rev. Olin King of Jackson, Rev. Fletcher Walton, of Atlanta, and Rev. Mr. Smith of McDonough. Mr. and Mrs. George Farrar and little son, George TANARUS., and Mr. and Mrs. Dempsey Farrar, of Atlanta, visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Farrar, Sun day. Miss Beechie White, of Monti cello, is the guest of Miss Edna Leverette. Mrs. Sam Colvin, of Jackson, visited relatives here last week.
