George Carmichael has been confined to his room for several days with pneumonia, but is im proving now. Little, who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. Ho mer Allen, has returned to her home at Forsyth. Miss Clyde Gaston, who is teaching at Indian Springs, spent the week-end with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Gaston. Mrs. W. M. Crawford and lit tle daughter, Virginia, returned Saturday from a few days visit to relatives in Hawkinsville. The friends of Mrs. J. J. Hanes will regret to learn ihat she fell Monday, sustaining a painful but not a serious injury. Charles Bailey’s hosts of friends are giving him a cordial welcome home after an absence of four years in the United States navy. BUTTS HAS CITIZEN NOW 107 YEARS OLD Perhaps the oldest person in Butts county and one of the ol dest in the countryis Uncle Jim Andrews, colored, who will be 107 March 14. He lives on the farm of Mi*. G. P. Saunders near here. This aged negro was born on March 14,1807, and lived through practically all of the nineteenth century and several years of the twentieth century. He is still active and strong and his mind is bright and clear. He is able to do considerable work and seems good forrrtany years yet. Maddox, for a number of years County School Superintendent of this county, departed this life on February Bth, 1915, be it resolv ed by the County Board of Edu cation of Butts coifnty: That, in Mr. Maddox’s death, we have lost a painstaking, faith ful public officer. That each member of the Board has lost a personal friend and the town and county a ster ling citizen.
