The Macon News is dead set against woman suffrage. Shake. Get in line and paint up and clean up for the week of April 5 to 12. Jackson must have a fair this fall that will show Macon and Atlanta a few things. It’s for your own good and tjie community'*, good that you pa tron i*§ horn enterprises^ 1 i *r J The i>each crop has been half killed but once so far and still has eight more lives to the good. Tom Hardwick has already started to explaining and it’s such a long way to Tipperary too. The weekly editors are going to Brunswick on an outing this summer, but Brunswick must run up the flag of truce in the meantime. Isn’t it about time that the ■ewspapers hands off and permit Judges Speer and Lambdin to settle their work to their own satisfaction? * The legislature or some other body of probers ought to turn the light on the tire insurance trust, the greediest and most insatia ble monopoly of them nil. That the protit derived from newspaper advertising in six years has enabled him to increase his appropriation for that purpose from $2,000 annually to SBO,OOO per annum is the remarkable statement made by a mail order seedsman of Atlanta. This man started right, for with the open ing of his business he set aside a certain sum to be expended in newspaper advertising. That it pdid him is shown by the way in which he has increased his ex penditures along this line. Of course we aren’t expecting any firm in Tifton to turn loose SBO,- 000 a year for advertising hut any merchant who wishes to in crease his business can do so by persistent and judicious adver tising, provided he has a good, salable stock and treats his cus tomers right.—Tifton Gazette. THE IDEAL SUBSCRIBER If all our subscribers would follow the example of this one the editor would always be happy and he would have a clear pass port to better things. Try it: “Good morning, sir: Mr. Edi tor, how are the folks today? I owe you for next year’s paper, and I thought I’d come in and pay. And Jones is goin’ to take it, and this is his money here, I shut down lendin’ it to him and coaxed him to try it a year. And here is a few little items that happened last week out our way. I thought they’d look good in the paper and I just jotted ’em down. And here is a basket of apples my wife picked expressly for you; and here is a pumpkin from Jen nie—she thought she must send something too. You’re getting out a mighty good paper, as all our family agree; just keep your old goose quill a flappin’ and give them a good one for me. And now you are chock full of busi ness and I won’t be takin’ your time; I’ve things of my own to attend to —good day, sir, I believe I will climb.”—Fayette City (Pa.) Journal. A TEXAS WONDER.
