MISS SALUE MAE RAY PASSED AWAY SUNDAY After an illness of some time, Miss Sallie Mae Ray passed away at the home of her father. Mr. J. P. Ray, Sunday afternoon at 4 o’clock. Her death came as a shock to the family and friends. Miss Ray was 14 years of age and quite popular with a large circle of friends, both old and young. The blow is a particu larly sad one to the family, as she was she an only daughter and lavished with affection. Besides her father, Mr. J. P. Ray. she is survived by a broth er, Master George Avery Rav. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at 3:30 at the Jenkins burg Baptist church and Rev. I. G. Walker and Rev. Z. E. Barron conducted the services. Inter ment was in the Jenkinsburg Cemetery. The pallbearers were Miss Ray’s uncles. Messrs. H. P. Ma bray, H. C. Wood, S. H. Avery, Aldine Kimbell. E. L. Ray and J. M. Mr. and Mrs. Edmond Hay spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Hay. Mr. W. T. Nelson and son, Stewart, went to Gladesville on business Tuesday. Mrs. Annie Moss spent Sunday with relatives here. We are all sorry to learn of the illness of Mr. A. J. Hay, who has teen sick for several weeks. Miss Edith Smith spent the week-end with relatives near Monticello. Mayfield spent Sunday with her daughter, Mrs. Charlie White, Mrs. Claudie Byars and chil dren spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Will Smith. Mr. A. B. Smith and sister, Miss Alice, visited Mr. and Mrs. S. K. Smith Thursday. Mr. W. A. Waldrop visited Mr. A. J. Hay Sunday morning. Mr. Carlton Smith and sister, Annie, visited relatives at Cork Tuesday. Morton Vickers spent Saturday night with Maurice and Hubert Fears. The school here is progressing nicely; all the children enjoyed a spelling bee Friday afternoon. Soapsuds.
