Prof. Roy F. Irvin, poultry
man Georgia State College of
Agriculture has just issued a cir
cular letter to all poultry raisers
in this state. He states that
thousands of dollars are lost
each summer in Georgia through
the production of fertile eggs.
During very warm weather germ
development begins very easily
in fertile eggs, and once this de
velopment begins the egg is ab
solutely unfit for human food.
When an egg is laid on a warm
day the germ development be
gins before the egg has cooled
off good, and the egg is spoiled

Deafness Cannot Be Cured
by local applications, as they cannot
reach the diseased portion of the car.
There is only one wuy to cure deafness,
and that is by constitutional remedies.
Deafness is caused by an inflamed condi
tion of the mucous lining of the Eusta
chian Tube. When this tube is inflamed
you have a rumbling sound or Imperfect
hearing, and when it is entirely closed.
Deafness is the result, and unless the in
flammation can be taken out and this
tube restored to its normal condition,
hearing will be destroyed forever; nlna
cases out of ten are caused by Catarrh,
which is nothing but an inflamed condi
tion of the mucous surfaces.
We will sire One Hundred Dollar* for any esse of
Deafness (caused by catarrhl that cannot be cured by

keted. The hot sun or a very
warm room will render the egg
unfit for food.
Infertile or sterile eggs will
decompose less rapidly in warm
weather, and the quality and
flavor is much finer. Infertile
eggs can only he produced by
removing the male bird from the
flocks. They can either be sold,
eaten at home or kept in pens to
themselves. If the males are
valuable they can be economical
ly kept as they require less feed
than a laying hen.
May Ist is "Swat the Rooster
Day” for Georgia. Either kill,
sell or confine vour male birds on
that date. Chicks hatched after
that date are late in maturing
and are often stunted by the hot
weather—allow two or three
weeks for the germs to disappear
entirely and you mav be sure
that you are producing sterile
eggs, the only kind fit to eat in
summer.
The average farm income in
Georgia from poultry and eggs
is but $19.61 as compared with
$42.85 in Florida and $39.44 in
Tennessee. The production of
sterile eggs in summer will help
to raise this income in Georgia.
