WASHINGTON’S VIEW.
Never since that April day three
years ago, when word came that the
Titanic had gone down, has Washing
ton been so stirred as It is over the
sinking of the Lusitania. Th? early
reports told that there had been no
loss of life, but the relief that these
advices caused gave way to the great
est concern later when It became
known that there had been many
deaths. Although they are profoundly
reticent, officials realize that this trag
edy, involving the loss of American
citizens. Is Ukely to bring about a
crisis in the international relations of
the United States.
Join the Internationa] Peace
Society. No initiation fee or
or dues to pay. You will meet
the best people in Butts county
at our conclaves which are held
in Jackson. Address Internat
ional Peace Society, Railway Ex
change Building, St. Louis, Mo.
Butts county wants the Dixie
highway but she doesn’t want it
bad enough to misrepsent things,
as was done at a recent meeting,
when somebody remarked that
if the route through McDonough
and Jackson were selected there
would be stretches thirty miles
long where the road did not touch
a railroad or telephone. That is
falsifying the record.

BEWARE OF IMITATIONS
They imitate the Bottle
They imitate the Name,
But when you taste a substitute
You find it’s not same.
They imitate the Trade-Mark,
They imitate the Crown,
But when you taste a substitute
You (juickly put it down.
They imitate the Barrel,
They imitate the Keg,
But when you taste a substitute
You know they’ve pulled your leg.
They imitate the Ad,
They imitate the Bign,
But when you taste a substitute
You know you are out of line.
They imitate and imitate,
But find it is no use.
For all the imitations
Must finally vamose.

The sinking of the Lusitania by
German submarines was the most
dastardly' cowardly, fiendish,
sneaking, cold-blooded act in the
history of warfare. And the
satanic glee with which they
gloat over the destruction of in
nocent women and children
stamps the race for what it is.
The leopard cannot change its
spots.
