Oyez! OYEZ! Oyez! Fruit Jars, Fruit Jars, Fruit Jars Fruit Cans, Wax String and Solder, too. We sell the Famous “Queen” Jar~The Clear Square Jar. Pints 75c per dozen Quarts 75c per dozen Half Gallons SI.OO per dozen Three pound wax string cans and string 50c dozen Two pound solder top cans 35c dozen Dempsey Hardware Company JACKSON, GEORGIA HARDWARE FURNITURE Field Notes If you have any bur clover seed to sell I can sell them for you, ei ther the seed or the patch. Ten pounds of clean seed make a bushel. To gather them the straw should be raked off and the seed swept into piles with a stiff broom. A yield of from 75 to 200 bushels may be made per acre. Are you troubled with smut in your oats? I notice some badly infected—as much as 20 per cent. Twenty per cent of a GO bushel yield is 12 bushels which mav be sold for $9.00. Ten cents worth of formalin will save you the $9.00. Why not treat your seed oats? The state of Georgia sells inoc ulating material for 25c per acre. The increase in your pea crop as well as the added fertility of your land will pay you well to invest! in this nitrogen gathering bacte ria for every acre you sow. broad cast. in drills or in your corn. Of course, if the land is very poor! or sour the good results will not be so marked. S. P. Ridgeway informs us that he will make a great deal more wheat on the pea-inoculated acre with the same treatment other wise. The farmer who does not avail himself of these opportuni ties offered by the State and Government is not acting wisely. The State sells it at cost: the Government gives you enough for 2 acres. By running over your grain stubble with a disc harrow imme diately after cutting will leave your land in splendid shape for pea planting at your leisure mo ments. Certainly you are going to put peas, soy beans, or pea nuts or some legume there. Woe CALOMEL DYNAMITES A SLUGGISH LIVER Crashes into sour bile, ma king you sick and you lose a day’s work Calomel salivates! It’s mer cury. Calomel acts like dyna mite on a sluggish liver. When calomel comes into contact with sour bile it crashes into it, caus ing cramping and nausea. If you feel bilious, headachy, constipated and all knocked out, just go to your druggist and get a 50c bottle of Dodson’s Liver Tone, which is a harmless veget able substitute for dangerous calomel. Take a spoonful and if it doesn’t start vour liver and straighten you up better and quicker than nasty calomel and and without making you sick, you just go back and get your money. If you take caioniel today you’ll be sick and nauseated tomorrow; besides, it may salivate you, while if vou take Dodson’s Liver Tone you will wake up feeling great, full of ambition and ready 7 for work or play. It’s harmless, pleasant and safe to give to chil dren; they like it. unto the man and the land if he doesn’t! Are you expecting to start a patch in alfalfa next September? The lime should be put on now when you plant your peas—also your barnyard manure so that it may have time to become thor oughly incorporated with the soil. I observe frequently that gar dens are not doing so well. It is my opinion that it may be some thing lacking in the soil. Gar dens need commercial fertilizers as well as stable manure. The percentage of potash and acid in stable manure is small and gar dens require a large amount of potash. Ashes help when you can’t get the potash. Also apply lime every few years. The Boys Corn club acres are doing nicely now. Just watch ’em take the state prizes next fall. The girls are doing well too with their tomatoes. Boys, don’t give your pig too much buttermilk; there was one to die this week from excessive feeding. Three or four gallons is too much at once. Very respectfully, H. L. Worsham, County Extension Agent. UNION RIDGE Miss Opal Vickers and brother, Troy Howard, spent Sunday with their aunt. Mrs. L. R. Dodson. Miss Pearl Griffith and Mr. D. B.
