Has anybody said anything
about a safe and sane Fourth?
Well, at any rate the legisla
ture will be a good space filler.
After Saturday it will be ‘ ‘Gov
ernor Harris.” Here’s to you,
Governor.
Quite a few June brides are

Now that Oliver Blood worth
has gone to Atlanta to help run
the legislature it is presumed his
correspondence course in matri
mony will be allowed to lag.
Wonder who will be the bright
and particular star of the press
meeting this year? Believe Bil
lie Sutlive was decorated with
the laurel last year at Commerce.
The Georgia Weekly Press As
sociation has a lot of real busi
ness that ought to be looked af
ter this year. It remains to be
seen whether the Eastman ses
sion will develop into a good time
and frolic or a business meeting.

Doyle Jones, editor of The
Butts County Progress, is a
royal booster for his old home
town. Would that there were
more like him in this land of
the free and the home of
Williams Jennings Bryan!
More power to his boosts;
greater growth to Jackson
and an earnest hope for a lit
tle boosting contagion across
the line into Monroe. —Mon-

Many thanks, Oliver. If The
Progress were called on for an
opinion it would say that The Ad
vertiser is the best weekly news
paper that comes to this office. ,

Believe you are right.

Already noticed the good show

The Macon Telegrah has a
bright editorial page and is a
good paper. Now let it cut
out its “obituary” correspon
dent from Juliette and it’ll
be a livelier paper still. 4 ‘The
Man from Juliette” makes a
specialty of funerals. He
gets all the exchanges possi
ble and when the subjects
are good and “dead” he sends
in his copy. Anything that
happens in a hundred miles
of his town is put down as
“near here. ” A wonderful
imagination has the “Man
from Juliette,” but he is
more elaborate than accurate.

That’s getting after him
all right, Jones. Something
