Grover Cleveland is the greatest
man in America,
Let’s have another ci.unt and make
it unanimous for Cleveland,
The very latest news—Harrison
has probably carried Vermont.
Watson’s threatened contest of
Black’s seat in the Fifty-third Con
g'esa is farcical. Ho lias no grounds
of contest and he knows it . Could
there be a purging of the ballot

But it is natural for renegades to

Talk about destro ing the Demo
cratic patty ! Why its popular ma
jority in the election was 0000,000!
Had not thousands of Democrats
voted the luaion ticket tn the North
west, under instruction? from th*
national com >.ittee, its Majority
been a million.
Citizen Ellington and Citlz *n
Irwin will not handle anv mot'
Democratic money through Allinuc*
pretences. The eyes of Democratic
farmers are now wide open, and
they will not bedecived again by an
alleged non-political organization.
The Third party fellows in the
Tenth district feel badly enough,
hut their conditions is happiness li

sneaks who, while professing to t>e
Democrats, were all the while stab
bling the Democratic party in the
back.
WHY SHOULDN’D WE BE
FRIDNDS?
The following from an exchange
so aptly fits our own section we
give it space here :
The state and national elections
are over, and the third p oly has
been juried in both state and na
tion.
No man who can read the signs
of the times, supposes that the third
party will ever again be an issue in
the politics of the sta f e and nation.
Tire.*, why should their be further
division among the people of oui
country?
The third parly of thi- county

friends awl work in harmony for
the interest of iheir section. No
good can ever reeub ir in such con
ditions. The fullest tusasure of
prosperity can never attend the ef
forts of a people who are at enmity
and war aiming themselves.
Now can our people-bury the pol
itical tonnhawh, and be friends?
We are neighbors and our inter
ests are identical.
Le* us have pea< e and l e friends.
Se h re. Very likely the one who i*
now rearling tbjse Hues owes The
Argus something and we need ii
badly. Come in and and set re. *
The Toledo Blade tells of a
conductor on a western railroad
who possesed a remarkable mem
ory. An official on the road who
doubted iris alleged powers, was
Convinced by the following leal:
Doming into hi>- office one day
the conductor said to liiia:
‘•There in my train book. Along
iiH lines I have taken in more
than 100 passengers, and while
)ou hold the book I will tell you
the station at whicn every pa-i
--senger got on and off, the class of
ticket that each one carried the
coilor of the ticket, whether the
passengers was male or female,
and the destination ol all passen
gers, translei red.” The list was
gone over and he did not err in a
-ingle particular. He then stated
h it ite could describe every one
of those 100 passsengers, giving
the manner of dress, coilor o!’ v s
and hair and general apearance,
and cou.d select ihe lot outol an

The greatest land deal ever
made in Northern Mexico has
been consummated at Montere\,
Mex. It was the sale ol the cele
brated Cedros Hecinda, embrac
ing 1.200,000 acres of land. This
vast property is situated in the
State of Zaeatetas. Ihe consul
era lion is placed at $5,000,000.
The owners have sold the prop
erly to a syndicate of merchants
and capitalists who propose to
develop i's rich gold bearing
mines and other resources. The
propel tv is weil stocked witii cat
tle, horses and sheep. One of the
first steps to betaken in develop

will be the erection of a large
smelter in thj mining district
for the treatment ores.
Descended from Julius Caesar.
The following has been handed
in for publication, says the Ashe
ville “Citizen:” “We saw Gen.
T.. L. Clingman to-dav. and he
mentioned to us that, this was his
80th birthday. He reminded us
that Julius Caesar was also born
on July 27, and he remarked
that there was another connection
between himself and the great
Roman. The General’s grand
mother was named Caesar, and as
Caesar had several German wives
the General claims to be a de
scendant of Julius Caesar. The
General said that he resembled
Moses in one respect only, age,
and that Moses began to serve the
public when he got to be 80 years
old, but he differed from Moses in
the fact that more than 50 years
ago, when not half so old as
Mosos, he began to give the great
er part of his time to the service
the public.”
Dead Men’s Clothes
“What kind of clothes do yon
imagine net us the largest profit?”
inquired a well known tailor of a
Philadelphia “Record” reporter.
“Don’t Know, eh? Well, I’ll tell
you. Why, dead men’s clothes, of
course. You needn’t be surprised.
It’s a sure thing, I tell you.
“We would prefer to get orders
from dead men than from our
promptest settling customer. You
see, in the first place, we get bet
ter paid, because we must rush the
job through in snort order. Then,
t*'o, a corpse never growls over the
fit, and never brings the suit to be
altered.
“But where we save the most is
in the fact that the clothes are not
finished like ordinary suits. A
corpse, you know, needs no pock
ets, so we don’t put them in. We
don’t piit binding on usually. The
corpse lie3 on his back in the cof
fin, and the scams in the back of
the suit we only stitch.
“Oh, there are lots of ways of
saving in that kind of work.
Give me orders from a corpse every
time.”
