This is 1893, and American people know good things when they
see them, and some of them are the Insurance Companies which
we represent, whose surplus are large compared with others.
Our companies are held in high esteem and preferred on account
of their loss-paying powei and quick adjustment incase of burning.
See below a true statement of net surplus over all other liabili
ties of our companies compared with others represented here:
We Represent. Others Represent.
Harttord Fire Ins. Cos. Suplus $2,582,835. Greenwish Fire Ins. Cos. 121,057.

Two of our companies above mentioned are 100 and 110 years

has borne the conflagrations of a century without a murmur, and
who have banks of money at their'backs you can see for yourself
which company you waDtyour property, insured in.
Come and see us we will make it to vour interest. We are reasonable .

WHAT ARE WE.
A good conscience is a good guide,
a bad one is a bad guide. A good
man has a good conscience, a bad
man a bad one. Conscience is a crea
ture of education, man a creature of
circumstances. We came into this
world without our consent and we
go out without it. What are we
anyway.
THE JUDGESHIP.
Col. Marcus W. Beck, the popular
Solicitor of this Circuit is now a candi
date tor the judgship. There is not
a lawyer in the circuit better qualified
in every way than he. He is a good
judgeoflaw and while he is very con
siderate, deliberate and courteous, still
he is decisive and firn: and would
probably even excel Judge Hall
himself in commanding perfect oraer
in the court room. Col. Beck is person
ally acquainted with every member of
the legislature and should he have auy
opposition he would be very hard to
beat.
RUNAWAYS.
People will tie stock to wagons in
town, notwithstanding the danger at
tending such carelessness. On Satur
day a mule ran backward down the
street a hundred yards dragging the
wagon with his head and either side
of the street lined with vehicles, pass
ing within a few inches of some of
them. Agaiu on Monday another ran
down the street just missing the will
of wagons lining the street and would
have ran over a lady had she not have
run for life. Moral: be careful of a
mule.

A BANK ACCOUNT.
It would be a good plan if ?vcry
child old enough to read were taught
to keep a Bank account. It would
begin teaching them early io life the
at tof saving. The old men of today
tell us if they had saved up their earn
ings when young, they would be very
rich men now. Young men save
yeur money. Put some away every
month. The Jackson Banning Cos.
in order to stimulate this saving has
a saving department, and will receive
deposits iu any amount to paying five
per cent per annum, payable on July
Ist and Jan. Ist of each year. You
can draw the money out at auv time,
but forfeit the interest when drawn
out on any other date than the above.
Start you a bank account now. It
would require some aelf-denial per
haps, but when doue would be a graud
victory—leading you on io success.
