People Know ‘Wliere To Gr-o.
They know who it is that is fighting high prices and
show their appreciations.
Ihe record of the NEW \ OltK STORE has always been “the most p*oods for the
least money, and erst while an ambitious competitor, green ith envy, will bark,
make faces and shake their hoary locks, abuse and cuss us. We have neither the
time nor the disposition to listen to their little croaking, being satisfied with the ver

A LARGE HAWK.
Mr. Jabe Holifield had on exhibi
tion on the streets the other day the
largest hawk that has been seen io
Jackson in naauy a day. It meas
ured four feet from tip to tip of its
wings. It was killed by Dr. Ellis,
while he and Jabe were out hunting.

THE MORTAL TRIO.
Any day that the oil mill is not running,
one can see on the streets of Jackson, loi
tering around the fruit stands, and buying
banaunas by the peck, this trio, composed
of Dr. J. E. King, Cbl. Oscar Willis and
Gen. Boyd Lee. We say “Mortal trio”
in contradistinction to the“imnrortal trio,”
Webster, Clay and Calhoun.
2 hey might be better Anown hero, as the
great discovery, or the lost ring, and the
capitalist or the lost pistol, and the propri
etor of the lost ‘•*al.”
A more Herculean or muscular three
could hardly be found. 1 hey are so well
built and healthy that we are indeed proud
that they were raised in our state, lor their
muscle, well developed as it is, would be a
power if well directed and even in its pres
ent crude state, il all three of them were
to jump on a smail man they might whip
him.
The great discovery is this. Dr. King
has said all the time that he could marry
any body that he csuld please, and he has
discovered that ha can’t please one of
them, ring ar no ring.
2he capitalist, Col. Willis, has announ
ced often that he would throw away mon
ey like Yellowstone Kit, but one night
while on guard he lost his pistol and for -
got to throw it away', but he says he will
soon, and everybody is invited to come
and bnng their hungry and naked friends.
Gen. Lee frankly confesses that when
ht first started the oil mill bere that he
was a poor man, and he had general ed a
certain girl until he dreamed of future bliss
continually, but not long ago he heard
something “diap”and his gal is gone, tie
dreams no more.
