ANNOUNCEMENT.
With this issue I sever my con
nection with The Argus for a peri
od of twelve mouths, having leased
the paper, togethsr with its good
will and everything connected with
it, to Messrs, N. J. Harmon and J.
G. McDonald, and I bespeak for
ihetn that same generous and liberal
support that the paper has ever le
ceived in my hands I drift into
other lields of labor, perhaps in a
dsitant state.
For many years the paper has
been conducted solely by myself
and the woik, though arduous and
pressing all the time, has in mai y
ways been pleasant. If I have ever
made an enemy or printed a false
hood, it was an error of the head
and not of the heart. I have sought
to gain friends and never lose one.
My association, as editor and
publisher of The Argus, with the
press ot the state and the people
generally, haye been indeed pleas
ant and it is with feelings of sincere
sadness that I sever my weekly visits
to them.
It now remain* for me to say fare
well, for a season ; but if forever, 'tis
all the same, farewell!
A third party rally, Bays the Val*

to give them the courthouse, but the
audience did not appear. Tnree or
four pops put in an appearance, but
the imported speaker did not think
the crowd sufficient to test his lungs
upon, and be left in disgust. The
third party in Brooks county is dead.
In fact, it is dead everywhere.
Still inyentors are at it, tiying to

at Neuchatel in Switzerland, gns
engines are being used to prorl
