JACKSON, GEORGIA, FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 1806
A Birthday Party.
Friday afternoon while quietly
reading the Life of Josephine, the
ringing of the door bell was heard.
Someone went to answer it. Imme
diately I heard a merry voice say:
“Is V in?” I did not wait to be
called but left off reading and went to
the door. As I walked out I met my
friends Annie Finner and Sadie
Hitchins. I off course invited them
in but they did not have time. Be
fore leaving, Annie asked me would I
attend her birthday party on Satur
day afternoon? I answered ‘ thank
you Annie, I will come with pleas
ure.” Oh, what a long time it seem
ed before Saturday afternoon came !
But it came at last and we met at 3
o’clock (the appointed hour). We
played many games which were en
joyed by all. We were then invited
into the dining room. We had many
kinds of refreshments and we enjoyed
them so much more than we could
express. W’e then resumed our play
ing. The time passed so slyly away
that 5 o’clock came before we knew
it. We were then compelled to bid
adieu to our little friend with many
thanks and kind wishes for Dr. and
Mrs. Mapp.

Cured, of Eczema.
Julia E Johnson, Stafford’s P. 0.,
South Carolina, writes: “I had suf
fered for thirteen years with Eczema,
and was at times confined to my bed.
The itching was terrible. My son-in
law got me one-half dozen bottles of
Blood Balm, which entirely cured
me, and I ask you to publish this for
the benefit of others suffering in like
manner.” See advertisement.
The peregrinations of a billy goat
got him into places which are unaccus
tomed to occupants of his kind and
caused quite a stir around at the Mor
rison House recently. His goatship
deftly defied the stairs and perempt
orily taking himself into Maj. Chas.
Pinckney’s room he at once and un
ceremoniously proceeded to devour a
pair of nameless garments found be
hind a trunk. Not satisfied with his
adventure he made further investi
gation of his new surroundings and
when discovered more by his perfum
ery than his noise, he was found in
Hon. John G. McDonald’s room with
the last page of Sundays’s Constitu
tion going down into his capacious
maw. A search revealed the fact
that he had also devoured three leath
er trunks straps together with a cov
erlet that was missed from the bed.

The little daughter of Mr. Fred
Webber, Holland Mass, had a very bad
cold and cough which he had not been
able to cure with anything. I gave
him a 25 cent bottle of Chamberlein’s
Cough Remedy, says W. P. Holden,
merchant and postmaster at West
Brimfield, and the next time I saw
him he said it worked like a charm.
This remedy is intended especially
for acute throat and lung trouble
such as colds, croup and whooping
cough, and is famous for its cures.
There is no danger in giving it to lit
tle children for it contains nothing
injurious. For sale by Dr. W. L.
Carmichael, Druggist.
