Flovilla.
The smallpox excitement has
abated, and our little hamlet has as
sumed its wonted life and beauty.
A tiie spring season advances an un
usual display of vim and energy pre
vades the surrounding country. The
merchants are busy, the farmer’s
wagons crowd the street carrying out
fertilizers, and the drummers, with
their alfable smiles, are frequestlv
seen in our midst.
Miss Belle Chapman of Americus
is visiting Miss Eva Watkins.
Miss Minnie Glover, a bright young
lady of College Park, is at home for a
few days.
Atticus Maddux spent several days
in Atlanta last week.
Miss Bessie Bloodworth has re
turned to her home in Atlanta after a
most delightful visit here. Miss
Bessie is quite a favorite here, and
we are always glad to welcome her in
our midst.
Mrs. J. W. Minter has returned
home from Forsyth.
Miss Kate McCord of Jaxon spent
Sunday in Flovilla, the guest of Mrs.
Sewall.
Miss Fannie Gibson who has been
visiting her sister, Mrs. Mays, at her
beautiful country home near Jack
son, is at home again.
Miss Lucile Elder is spending some
time with triends and relatives in
Macon.
Quite a number of the young set
spent last Friday evening very pleas
antly at Mr. and Mrs. T. O. Lynch’s
home, enjoying games, etc.
Invitations have been issued to the
marriage of Mr. 0. D. Smith to Miss
Lula Glover on Thursday evening
next.
If Madam Rumor is correct there
will be several events similar that
will occur in the near future.

Crocket Giles of Baconton was in
our midst last week, shaking hands
with his many friends here.
W. F. Smith who came up to at
tend court last week in Jackson has
returned to Baconton.
The Misses Dozier who have been
on an extended visit in Alabama and
different points in Georgia are ex
pected home this week.
Flovilla was awakened in the Ep
worth League interest by an interest
ing talk delivered by Mr. J. R. Bell
of Atlanta Sunday evening. Quite a
large crowd was out and showed their
appreciation by organizing a society
of that divine order. The League
will be quite an addition to Flovilla
both socially and religiously and we
are justly proud of its bright begin
ning.
Mr. Hunt of Jenkinsburg preached
a most eloquent and impressive
sermon to a very appreciative con
gregation on Sunday evening last.

Court Adjourns Over.
Judge BecK on Monday of this
week called the adjourned term of
Butts Superior court to order, but on
account of the sickness of Col. Y. A.
Wright, together with several
deferdants in cases before that body ,
he adjourned court until Wednesday
next (March 16) when several very
important cases will be taken up and
disposed of.
It seems to be Judge BecK’s inten
tion to dispose of these cases even if
he has to hold court the balance of
the year —and we are of the opinion
that he is decidedly right in the mat
ter.

We have been writing to the Weekly
but thought we would turn our at
tention to your paper. We see The
Argus has no correspondent from the
hustling wide awaKe town of Locust
Grove. We have determined our
town shall not be slighted. Below we
send you a few locals.
Mr. Joe Price of Flippen spent
Thursday at this place.
Col. J. F. Wall of McDonough
visited this place Friday afternoon.
Clever Billie MiddlebrooKS went up
to McDonough Monday.
A good many of the young people
from this place attended singing at
Sharon Sunday.
Charles Castellaw and Carl Wil
liams attended preaching at Phila
delphia Sunday.
Joe Walls went to see his best girl
Sunday afternoon.
Several of the school boys went
walxing Sunday afternoon, and fin
ally reached Luella and attended
Sunday school.
John Brown had hard luck Satur
day and Sunday, so he says.
Prof. Claude Gray went down to
Jackson Saturday.
Mr. Bill Combs is ere * ing a fine
house at this place.

The city election for justice of fch
peace came off Saturday and Mr, Gus
Peek of this place was e ected. We
wfish him success.
Mr. G. W. Castellaw who has been
quite sick io** the past few months
went up to Jonesboro Monday to be
treated by Dr. Johnson a skilled
physician of that place.
Locust Grove ought to have a first
class newspaper.

Dr. S. Wilson of Brent was in town
Thursday and Friday of last week.
His many friends were happy to see
him again. Dr. has a fine practice in
Brent.
Mrs. A. H. Ogietree and Mr. Miller
Ogletree spent Sunday and Monday
in Milner with Mrs. Ogletree’s father.

Mrs. Dean and her little son Dan,
of Savannah have been at the Calu
met for the past ten days.
Dr. G. H. Carter delivered a tem
perance lecture at the Baptist church
Monday evening. As is usual when Dr.
Carter speaks the audience was fi ie.
The lecture was very good and calcu
lated to do good to the “wet men”
However they w T ere conspicuously
absent! they are afraid to hear the
strong argument in favor of prohibi
tion.
Tuesday evening Miss Rosa Elder
entertained her friends very delight
fully at a candy pulling. Miss Elder
was assisted in receiving by her
mother Mrs. W. A. Elder and sister
Mrs. A. F. White, of Flovilla.
Miss Daisy Sm. th came from
Loc t ( -ove to spend Saturday and
Sundav with her mother Mrs. M. S.
Smith.
Mr. Whit Collier was in town Sun
day.
Miss Theresa Wright of Flovilla
spent Sunday at home.

Indian Spring.
The Indian Spring Baptist Church
was sold at public s* le Saturday
morning and was purchased by Miss
Carrie P. Collier. The object of sel
ling the church was to help raise
funds to help build a new r church.
The building will be commenced early
in April.
A party of Macon men spent Wed
nesday in town. Among them Mr.
Eugene Britton, formerly of Indian
Spring, but now of East Macon. Mr.
Britton ’s friends are aiways happy to
see him and to hear ol his success.
Mr. Thad C. Parker nas returned
from Indian Spring where he went
Wednesday to have views taken of
the Wigwam and surroundings for
the purpose of displaying them before
the public in order to attract tjie
people to the resort this summer.
He expects to beautify the grounds
and the views will aid him in forming
plans for this, fr. Charley Hooper
will be in charge of the Wigwam this
summer wnich is a guarantee that
the place will be one of tho most

the city Tuesday looking after his
real estate.
