Atlanta Saturday to see Mr. James
Valentino, who is quite sick.

been a student the past term.

Mr. R. S. Brown is expected to
spend the week-end with his family,
who are guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. P.

Miss Leila Maddox, who has been
suffering the past few. weeks with an
attack of rheumatism, is very much
improved.
Mrs. Jim Kinard and little daugh
ters, Mary, Julia and Evelyn, are
guests of Mr. and Mrs. S. B. Kinard
this week.
Mrs. Lee Smith, with Sara and
Taylor Buttrill, spent Wednesday in
McDonough with Col. and Mrs. Er
nest Smith.
Dr. G. Mitchell, of Indian Spring,
and Rev. M. L. Harris, of Flovilla,
were welcome visitors to the city

Mr. G. T. Fossett. of Toombsboro,
has been in the city this week visit
ing his family and looking after bus
iness interests.
Miss Annie Lou McCord left Satur
day for LaGrange to spend several
days attending Commencement and
visiting friends.
Miss Maggie Belle Thaxton is at
home from Bessie Tift College, where
she has spent the past term pleas
antly and profitably.
Judge Marcus Beck was the guest
of Judge B. P. Bailey a few days
since. He was also a welcome vis
itor to The Argus office.
Miss Hattie Kate Burney and Miss
Callie Wood, of Monticello, were
guests Monday of Mrs. Susan Moore
and Mrs. C. A. Butner.
Dr. Quigg Fletcher came Tuesday
from the Johns Hopkins Medical
School at Baltimore to spend the
summer on his native heath.
Mrs. J. F. Carmichael and Mrs.
George White, of Wortbville, will
visit Mrs. Sanders Rowland in Deca
tur Tuesday of the coming week.
Sunday Mr. S. M. Pope went to At
lanta to meet Mrs. White Jamerson
and little son, of Augusta, who have
come to spend some time with home
folks.
Mrs. S. E. Paul left Monday for a
visit to Mrs. R. O. Campbell, of At
lanta. During her absence Mrs.
Mattie Plunkett and little ones are
boarding with Mrs. J. T. Smith.
Misses Ossie and Emma McCord,
with Harry Butner and Marvin Mc-
Cord, have returned from Meridian.
Miss., where they have been in the
colleges during the recent terms.
Rev. and Mrs. S. P. Wiggins went
to Indian Spring Monday to spend
some time, hoping the water would
be beneficial to Mr. Wiggins, who
has not been well for several weeks.
Mrs. Dixie McKibben and children
left Saturday for their new home in
Winder. Mrs. Verna Wright, who
bought Mrs. McKibben’s home on
East Third street, moved in Monday.
Henry Hendrick returned this
week from Macon, where he has
been taking a course of study pre
paratory to entering the military
school at West Point. He received
the appointment recently.
Rev. Mr. Bradley left early in the
week for Cross Hill, S. C., where he
joins Mrs. Bradley and little James.
He will be away two or three weeks
for a rest, and will return, accompa
nied by Mrs. Bradley and little son.
Mrs. Martha Thomas and son, Mr.
Stark Thomas, of LaGrange, who
have been visiting the families of
Mr. Z. T. Buttrill and Mrs. Susan
Moore, left Saturday for Griffin,
where they will visit before return
ing home.
Rev. S. P. Wiggins, who is spend
ing this week at the New Hotel El
der, Indian Spring, to recuperate,
drove up to the city Thursday morn
ing. He thinks the change has ben
efited him and he feels much better.
He says he will fill his pulpit here
Sunday morning and evening at the
usual hours.
Mr. T. P. Bell, a piominent mer
chant of Patillo, was mingling with
his friends in the city Monday. Mr.
Bill has an unusual record. In Feb
ruary, 1878, he was appointed Notary
Public and Ex-Officio Justice of the
Peace, and has held the office ever
since. Holding an office for over
thirty years speaks highly for Mr.
Bell.
Misses Mary and Rosa Newton left
today, Friday, for Newnan, to be
guests of Miss Bessie Powell and to
attend a number of social functions
to be given in honor of Miss Powell
previous to her marriage to Mr. Park
Newton the 11th inst. Immediately
after the marriage the bridal party
will leave Newnan for this city and
will be with Mr. and Mrs. W. A.
Newton. The reception to be given
by Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Newton is an
ticipated with great pleasure by their
social circlet
The Election.
As we go to press the consolidated
vote of the county cannot be obtain
ed It is known that Joe Brown
carried the corn ty by one majority
in the gubernatorial race. For {So
licitor General Col. E. M. Smith
carried the county and Col. O. H. B.
Bloodworth carried the county for
Congress.

The marriage of Miss Lillian Dan
iel, of McDonough, and Mr. Tom Me-
Kibbefi, of Eatonton, Wednesday,
has caused most pleasant comment
in this city, where Mr. McKibben
has lived until the past few years,
and where Miss Daniel had been an
admired visitor on many occasions.
Immediately after the marriage they
came to this city for a short visit to
the f* mily of Mrs. J. H. McKibben
and Miss Dollie, Mr. and Mrs. S. P.
Nichols, Mrs. M. J. Carson, Mrs.
Mary Ann McKibben and Mrs. Rose
Carmichael.
