In compliment to Mrs. John Gos
nell, of Baltimore, the guest of
Mrs.iK.J. Carmichael last week,
Mrs. W. E. Watkins entertained
Saturday afternoon at a 500 party.
The guests were seated around
small tables and numbered but
twelve of the hostess’ special
friends. A sweet fruit salad with
whipped cream and golden colored
cake embossed with three numer
als, suggesting the game and the
rich yellow color of the decorations
was served the guests after a spir
’ted round of games. No trophies

crocheted collar and cuff set was
given the honoree.

Mrs. Joe Watson, of Cold water,
Mich., who is spending some time
in Jackson, and Mrs. O. A. Pound,
of Nashville, another attractive
and popular visitor, were joint
houorees at Mrs. Raymond Car
michael's sewing party Tuesday
afternoon. The hospitality was
quite informal and graced by the
cordiality which always makes
Mrs. Carmichael’s parties charm
ing. About thirty friends were
included in her invitation and an
unusually pleasant afternoon was
spent by the busy workers whose
tongues flew in delightful conver
sation to keep company with the
needles.
Large, beautiful jonquils and.
ferns, the favorite decorative plan
for the season made more lovel>
the rooms used for entertaining,
and several musical selections by
Mesdames Maurice Wright, Pound,
Watson, Carter and Carmichael
were bright features of the after
noon’s entertainment and were
thoroughly enjoyed by the guests

in the dining room, Mrs. O. L.
Chestnutt added the charm of her
greetings to the guests as they ar
rived and later assisted Mesdames
Pound and Carmichael in serving
most tempting plates of salads,
sandwiches and coffee.

Mrs. Joe Watson was accorded
another courtesy Tuesday of last
week when Mrs. S. O. I lam gave
a violet luncheon for her at her
home on Covington street. Covers
were laid for six, the other guests
including Mrs. Otis Ham and her
guests, Mrs. Stewart Roberts and
G’over, of Atlanta, and Miss Grace
Ham.
