john M. Slaton To Be
Inaugurated June 30
(special to THE ARGUS.)
Atlanta, Ga., May 15. —
John M. Slaton will be in
augurated Governor of Geor
gia probably on Monday, June
30, and present indications are
that the ceremony will be
simple and democratic in the
extreme. Only a few years
have passed since the inaugu
ration of governors used to be
more or less spectacular gala
occasions. Several of the
most modest and democratic
of Georgia’s past governors
have been inaugurated with
great military display, and
some friends of Governor Sla
ton’s thought that a big mili
tary parade and set inaugural
address would be a proper
and interesting event this
spring. Governor Slaton
himself did not much take to
the ceremonial idea, however,
and the notion has been prac
tically dropped.
The ceremonies strictly
necessary to the inauguration
are simple enough and will
probably be conducted in the
House of Representatives.
Governor Slaton will merely
take the oath of office, admin
istered by one of the Chief
Justices, will receive the great
Seal of the State from the
hands ot the retiring Gover
nor, will accept the congratu
lations and best wishes of the’
General Assemblv in joint
session, and will then retire to
his executive office to get
down to business. The Leg
islature itself assembles this
year on June 25.
Dan Carey’s Latest
Addition to Grant Park
(SPECIAL TO THE ARGUS.)
Atlanta, Ga., May 15. —
The elephant, the zebra aud
the big baboon at Grant Park
are horribly jealous of the
giant hoot-owl that is man
ager Dan Carey’s latest acqui
sition.
The owl is a Georgia prod
uct, having been sent to the
city of Atlanta as a gift from
W. I. Smith, of Roy, Ga.,
who captured it, but it is such
a remarkable owl that it is
monopolizing the attention of
small boys and grown boys to
the detriment ot the vanity ol
the other animals. Its eyes
are big and fierce, of a blazing
yellow, and it spends pretty
nearly all of its time hissing
and glaring.

If it will induce some suffering woman to try Cardui. I had
pains all over, and suffered with an' abscess. Three phy

better health than ever before, and that means much to me,
because I suffered many years with womanly troubles, of
different kinds. What other treatments 1 tried, helped me
for a few days only.”

Sold Hogs by Telephone
A South Carolina farmer had a large number
of hogs which were ready to kill. The weather
was so warm that killing was out of the question.
He went to his telephone, called a dealer in
Columbia over Long Distance and sold his hogs
at a good price. He then called the local freight
office and arranged for shipment.
The telephone is now a necessity on the farm.
You can have one on your farm at small cost.

Health a Factor in Success
The largest factor contributing to
a man’s success 'is undoubtedly
health. It has been observed that a
man is seldom sick when his bowels

they are constipated. For constipa

good as Chamberlain’s Tablets. They
not only move the bowels, but im

the digestion. They are sold bv all'
