McCord and children, of Macon, spent Sunday with rela tives in the city. Charles, Jr., and Fletcher will remain for several days. Mrs. Annie Mackey and little daughter returned Sunday from McDonough, having attended the union meeting near that place last week. * * * Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Carreker are now at home with Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Wright. Their marriage occurred Wednesday ol last week in Covington. # Jackson had many visitors from neighboring towns and from the county attending the Missionary Conference at the Methodist church early in the week, I • • Mrs. Verna W. Logue, Misses Florrie Wood ward, Daisy Thomas and Ethel Logue have returned after a pleas ant visit to points in Florida. • • • Mrs. J. W. The Jungle Nut Club Gets a Couple of Real Ones. i | Miss Ouida Carreker, of Zebu lon, is the guest of Mrs. M. C. Wright. She returned with her from Covington, where she attend ed the Meador-Carreker wedding. * • * Messrs. Victor Carmichael, H ugh Mallet, Add Nutt, Tom Bond and Otis Ilam were among the Jackson people attending the Meador-Car reker wedding on Wednesday.— Covington News. Miss Viola Slaughter has recent ly accepted the position as organist at St. John’s Methodist church in Atlanta. Her Jackson friends are sorry to learn that she will make her home in Atlanta. • • • Mrs. C. A. Butner will leave early next week for a visit to her son and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Butuer, of Columbia, S. C. Before returning she will visit Ashe ville and Lake Toxaway, N. C. MISS ESTA CARR'S PORCH FARIT Mifs Esta Garr entertained at a very delightful porch party Wed nesday morning in compliment to hervisitors, Misses Ina McMichael, Frances Barnes, and Alma White, of Forsyth. The porch and hall were bright ened by daisies, which were attract ively arranged in bowls and vases. Wood, as special agent, leads all the boys in producing business for the first three weeks of June. Mr. Wood says fifty or sixty thousand is no phenome nal wonder, while it does fairly well for good old summer time. We sus pect that he will soon seek larger fields in the insurance field. Prof. Douglas Watson, of Barnes ville, visited home folks Saturday. Mr. William Barkley is attend ing the reunion at Gettysburg, Pa. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Gentry are now keeping house at Mr. S. M. Pope’s. Mr. N. R. McCord has just fin ished remodeling his home on Ly ons street. Mr. W. J. Wood made a business trip to Monticello with Dr. A. ?. White on Monday last. Mr. R. S. Womble has had as a visitor his brother, Mr. Richmond Womble, from Fitzgerald. Mr. Henry Moore, of Thotnas ville, has been the guest of Mr. Lawrence Crawford’s family this week. Prof. Martin will begin a sum mer school for all those deficient in work in the school on Monday morning. Mr. M. A. Sandifer visited his many friends in the city Sunday. Mr. Sandifer is now connected with the bank at Temple. Mr. Willie Preston, of Flovilla, who will be a Senior at the Uni versity next year, was a visitor to the city Wednesday. Leon J. Wood, who recently graduated from Meridian College, has accepted a position with the James Drug Company in Atlanta. Mr. Dave Spencer, who recently graduated at Kmory College, has accepted a position as teacher in the High School at Senoia for the next year. Mr. Robin B. Daughtry, who has just graduated from the United States Naval Academy, will leave Saturday for Mare Island, Cal., his new post of duty. Friends of Mr. Sam A. Morris were glad to see him this week.
