A considerable number of trans formers were burned out and th<f telephone service badly crippled. Mr. W. E. Merck, superinten dent of the municipal plant, re ceived a severe shock when a holt hit close to the power plant and ran into the substation on the high voltage wires, knocking out the lightning arresters. Mr. Merck, was sitting in the power house, was knocked out of a chair and thrown several feet to the floor, suffering a sprain in his neck. A mule was knocked down at the Coca Cola plant by the same bolt. Lightning struck Mrs. J. W. McCord’s barn, though the dam age was light. SIIEKIFF’S SAGE Georgia, Bull'- tVumy.
