FLO VILLA NEWS A large number of citizens and patrons attended the opening of our school Monday morning; 100 pupils were enrolled. The chap el exercises were conducted by Rev. Arthur Jackson, of Mercer University, after which Hon. Hugh Mallet, C. S. S. of Butts county, delivered an able address on educational lines. His main topic was the consolidation of the schools in the rural districts. He was followed by members of the local Board of Education, also by Hon. J. L. Lane, of Jasper coun ty, and other citizens of the town and community who made inter esting talks on education. Messrs. S. L. and R* B. Thomp son have about completed their ginnery and begin ginning this week, which will add very much to the business interests of the town. Mrs. J. L. Holloway left for her home in Macon Monday. She was accompanied by Miss Lois Alien. Mr. J. T. Gibson made a busi ness trip to Jackson Monday. Mrs. S. L. Thompson has re turned home after a pleasant vis it to relatives in Pike county. Miss Lucy Goodman, of Jack son, was the guest of Miss Leila Ray Sunday. Mr. W. A. Dozier spent the week-end in Macon. Mrs. W. J. Partridge will spend Friday in Macon. Mrs. J. L Holloway and Mr. Carl Funderburk will be with the R. L. Allen Trading Company this fall and will be glad to have their friends call on them there. We are sorry to lose Mrs. Se ney Torbet and daughter, Miss Lurline, who moved to Jackson Monday to make their home, Mrs. Torbet having accepted a posi tion there. Mr. Frank C.
