The Mexican 801 l weevil appeared before September 15, 1915. in about twenty-six coun ties of Georgia and will attack other sections before frost. 2. The weevil is now causing an annual loss in cotton produc tion amounting to One Hundred Million Dollars. 3. The 801 l Weevil can be practically controlled by the com plete destruction from green cot ton, at least four weeks before killing frosts occur. Two meth ods of stalk destruction may be considered. Ist. Whenever the teams and plows are capable of putting the stalks under four inches of dirt they may be plowed under. 2nd. When stalks cannot be plowed under deeply, they should be uprooted, piled while green and burned when the foliage is thoroughly dry. 7. If plants are destroyed by October 15th, growth of plants should be stopped by tapping. 8.
