Mr. E. A. Cawthon makes formal
announcement this week. It has
been known for some time that
he would run, and his entry into
the politicai arena will occasion
considerale interest over the
county. Two years ago Mr. Caw
thon was a candidate for this of
fice and made an excellent show
ing. He is confident in believing
he will come across the tape a
winner in the present contest,
Mr. Cawthon is a gentleman of
fine character, held in high es
teem by all who know him and
his circle of friends is limited on
ly by his acquaintances. He is a

The Race
Mr. John M. McMichael makes
announcement in this issue for
the office of Treasurer. His en
try into the race will be received
with wide interest by voters
throughout the county. Mr. Mc-
Michael is one of the county’s
leading citizens and enjoys the
friendship andesteem of hundreds
of voters who will lend him their
assistance in the present cam

is expected that he will make a

SCHOOL NEWS
The enrollment of the school is
now 468 and new pupils are enter
ing each day.
Robert E. Lee’s birthday was
observed here on Wednesday of
last week. Mr. Martin gave a
very interesting talk on the life
of Lee and we sang several nat
ional songs.
Mr. Avery Lowe, of Norwood,
Ga., who is visiting Mr. and Mrs.
W. P. Martin, visited the school
on Wednesday.
The Phi Theta Society will en
tetain the High School on next
Friday afternoon. The Senior
