Carmichael, of Jack son, is a candidate for Treasurer. He makes formal announcent in this issue and though a late en trant his presence in the cam paign will be of wide political in terest. Mr. Carmichael is one of the county’s staunchest citi zens, a man- of high character and rugged honesty and numbers his friends by the hundreds. He is well qualified to perform the duties of the office and would no doubt make a capable official. Mr. Carmichael has been a resi dent of the county all his life, is a pioneer buggy manufacturer and at present is Tax Receiver and Collector of the city of Jack son. Mrs. Edward Cornell is visiting Atlanta, a pre-nuptial guest of Miss Willis Smith, whose marri age to Mr. Lifsey, of Albany, oc curred Wednesday evening, March 1. Mrs. T. P. Clay is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Arnold. Mrs. Clay has been very ill but is now convalescent. Friends of Mrs. E. D. Hoard sympathize with her in the death of her mother, Mrs. Felix Dough erty. which occurred in Macon Tuesday. Mrs. Dougherty was a beautiful, consecrated Christian. Her death is deplored by her many friends. Misses Barrett and Hammond, Messrs. Hammond and McDonald motored to Indian Spring Sunday afternoon and attended services at the Baptist church. Also Messrs. Furlow and Crum and Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Nolen. Come again, you are always welcome. The friends of Mr. Basil Keaton will extend congratulations on his marriage to an Arizona young lady. MARTIN WAS RE-ELECTED THIS WEEK The friends of Prof. W. P. Martin are congratulating him upon his election as superinten dent of the Jackson public schools for another term. At the meet ing of the Board of Education Wednesday afternoon he was unanimously chosen. The board showed its appreciation of his yaluable services by voting him an increase in salary. This is the fifth year that Prof. Martin has been elected to head the city’s schools.
