PAREONESS OUR STRONG POINT
For months we have seen the “Handwrit
ing on the wall.” We began last fall to ne
gotiate with mills and manufacturers and
made contracts that we feel very proud of
today. We own goods and contracts that we
could sell at a nice profit and never ship the
goods, but we are retail distributors of mer
chandise and we want it for our trade that
depends upon us and we upon them year in
and year out. and we expect to protect you as
long as we can with old prices, although ev
erything is advancing almost hourly, and in
some cases goods of certain kinds are unob-
Conditions are propitious and we are look
ingforone of the best seasons in years.
Mills are all operating on full time, money
plentiful, increased demand for American
goods of every kind, cotton a good price,
Peace in this glorious free country of ours.
All this should make happiness reign in every
home and call forth expressions of praise and
thanksgiving. Compare our surroundings
with those of the warring nations. We are
very optimistic and are inclined to say too
much along this line and less about our store
and business, back to the main subject.
OUR OPENING DISPLAY AND FASH
ION WEEK was a grand success, surpassing
anything of the kind we have had in many
years, the attendance and sales made, voice
the correctness of our styles and materials
and the lowness of our prices. We have ev
ery assurance and encouragement of the. trad
ing public that we have the goods styles and
prices that please and we have planned and
bought accordingly for a very big season.
The goods are here to speak for themselves.
The styles and coloring are VERY PRETTY
and becoming to all. We have a VERY COM
PETFNT courteous corps of salespeople who
are anxious to show and who are enthusiastic
over their respective departments and lines of
goods. We especially mention Miss Aitcher
son our designer and trimmer as being the
best we have had in years. Come let us
prove it.
With a store like ours, (everything under
one roof), convenient and comfortable, de
partmentized and stocked with almost every
thing used by all sexes, classes and races, in
the home and on the farm, with an unsur
passed service, affords the public a trading
place equal to any Citv. We are proud of
our store, and love our work, we appreciate
and want your trade for which we promise
our best efforts in every transaction.
ETHERIDGE, SMITH & COMPANY.
P. S.—We want to remind you lest you forget
our Furniture Department with every piece
new and up-to-date. We want to say too
that we will sell it at department store prices
like we do everything else. When you think
ar, in the furniture line think of us.
