MR. J. T. HARRIS DIES SUDDENLY Death Called Former Jack son Citizen at Panacea Springs, Florida Coming as a surprise and shock to his numerous Butts county friends was the death of Mr. J. T. Harris, which occurred Friday morning, the 19. at Panacea Springs, Fla. He had been in feeble health for several months but it was not thought his con dition was critical and news of his passing was a suprise to his own family. Mr. Harris, who had been residing in Jacksonville since leaving Jackson last fall, went to Panacea Springs, near Tallahassee, about a week before he died, thinking the change would be beneficial to his health. The remains were brought to Jackson Saturday afternoon and the funeral services were conduc ted from the Methodist church, of which the deceased was a mem ber, bv Kev. Olin King. Hand some and numerous floral offer ings attested the esteem in which the deceased was held. The pall bearers were Messrs. C. M. Comp ton, G. F. Gilmore, J. T. Fletcher and J. H. McKibben. Interment was in the City Cemetery. Mr. Harris was 56 years old on April 21. and was a native of Oliver. Screven county, Ga. For a number of years he was a resi dent of Jackson and was engaged in business until a few years ago. He was formerly a naval stores operator in South Georgia and Florida. Mr. Harris had scores of friends in this city, particular ly among the older residents. Quiet, unassuming, Mr. Harris was an upright, honorable, noble hearted Christian gentleman. The surviving relatives are his wife, who a Miss Pound, of Jackson, before her marriage, two daughters, Misses Louise and Myrtle Harris; a sister, Mrs. Jones, of Geneva, Fla., a half brother, who resides in Waycross. Miss Laura Smith arrived Mon day from McDonough to spend awhile with relatives before go ing to Nashville, Tenn., to study at Peabody Normal School during the summer term. Mr. Harry Thomas closed his school at Worthville Friday and came for a two days visit with home folks before going to Ten nessee Monday, where he has ac cepted a position. Mr. Joe Bill Terrell was down from Atlanta for the week-end at home. Mrs. H. M. Byars and children, of Rome, are guests for a week of Rev. and Mrs. J. T. Pendley. Mr. J. T. She has made a host of friends since coming here, who are delighted to know she has been elected for the next term. Miss Mildred Allen is visiting Miss Mary Nixon in Locust Grove and attending L. G. I. commence ment. Mrs. J. A. Maddox and young son have returned to Macon after a pleasant visit with Flovilla rel atives. Mrs. Jacob Mavo and little daughter have returned from For syth where they were guests of relatives while Mr. Mayo was in Wadley. Mrs. Sallie Carson, of Nash ville, Tenn., after visiting Mrs. 0. D. Smith, is now spending awhile at Indian Springs. Mrs. S. M. Glover and little Julius Smith are in Oxford, Ala., for a visit with Rev. and Mrs. A. J. Johnson. Little Cecil Duffey had the misfortune to fall from a tree on Monday, receiving serious injur ies from which his friends hone i he will soon tecovei.
