Paul spent the week end in Maccn with Mrs. H. L. Jenkins. Prof, and Mrs. Martin attended commencement at Bessie Tift, Monday. Mrs. Jim Kinard and children, of Collins, are guests of Mrs. S. B. Kinard. Miss Annie Keith, of Rock Hill, S. C., is the guest of Miss Annie Catchings Crum. Mrs. W. S. Colvin spent a few days of the past week in Jenkins burg with relatives. Mr. J. F. Little, of Forsyth, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Hencely. Mrs. A. F. Whitney returned Mondav from a visit to Mrs. L. P. Lester, in Macon. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Carmichael, Joe and Virginia Carmichael mo tored to Macon Friday. Mr. and Mrs. George Mingle dorff and children of Royston, are guests of Mrs. J. W. Crum. Mrs. S. P. Nichols and children are in Abbeville, S. C.. guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Nichols. Miss Marguerite Fletcher, of Atlanta, is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Fletcher. Mrs. W. A. Woodall and little son. Doyle, of Macon, are guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Willis. Mr. Dave Spencer, who taught in the Marietta public schools, is at home for the summer vacation. Messrs. James Newton and Henry Duke, of Cochran, spent the week-end with relatives here. Dr. R. L. Hammond has re turned from Augusta where he is a student in the Augusta Medical College. Mr. Tom McMichael spent Sun day in Atlanta with his son, Fred, who continues to improve at a local hospital. Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Powell motored from Newnan and were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Park Newton Sunday. Mr. Charles Bailey has returned from a short stay in Birmingham and will be the guest of his moth er for two weeks. Miss Katherine Philips return ed to her home in Monticello, Sat urday, after a pleasant visit to Miss Lucie Goodman. Mr. Frank Childs, of Jenkins burg, was among those who were graduated from the Georgia Mil itary College, Milledgeville. Mr. and Mrs. Lum Turner and family and Mrs. L. H. Ferguson, of McDonough, visited Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Kinard, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. McKibben and Margaret, Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Hurt spent Sunday in Macon with Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Akin. Mrs. C. A. Butner and Master Harry Bob Butner spent the week end in Macon with Mr. and Mrs. C. R. McCord and Harry Butner. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar M. Willis, of Liveoak, Fla., and Dr. H. O. Brown, of Atlanta, were the guests last week of Mr. and Mrs. Troy Willis. Mrs. W. E. Watkins and little daughter, Mollie, returned this week from a visit of several weeks with relatives at Bluffton and Marshallville. Mrs. Luther Carter and children who have been visiting her moth er in Macon are here for a short visit before returning to their home in Draketown. Mrs. Lee Smith spent Saturday in Atlanta, joining Misses Sara Smith and Doris Nutt, who were returning home from Ward-Bel mont college, Nashville. Mrs. J. B. Thomas and two sons and Mr. Cadimus Pope left Tuesday for their home in Helena, Arkansas. They haye many warm friends here, who regret to see them leave. Mrs. W. E. Merck, Mary Kate and Edgar Merck are spending the summer months with relatives in Gainesville, Mrs. Merck having been called to the beside of her father who is quite ill. Miss Annie Catchings Crum, accompanied by Miss Anna Keith, arrived Friday from Americus to spend the summer with her par ents. Dr. and Mrs. J. W. Crum. Carmichael-Mallet Cos. PROGRESS-ARGUS HAS CASH SUBSCRIPTON PLAN As previously announced, The Progress-Argus will conduct its circulation on a strictly cash ba sis hereafter. The new system became operative June 1. A small number of subscribers who failed to respond to the no tices sent them were cut off the list. It is hoped they will pay up and get in good standing. The paper regretted to part with any of its readers but the rule has been made and will be adhered to impartially and rigidly. Since first mention was made of the cash in advance basis, a large number of subscribers have responded nobly. Without ex ception all those who have ex pressed themselves on the ques tion heartily endorse the cash in advance system. Ninety five per cent of the people state they do not want to “read the paper on a credit.” By placing its circulation on a cash system. The Progress-Argus will be able to issue a larger and better paper and to that end all of its energies will be directed. A TEXAS WONDER.
