Miss Lois Allen entertained at
a delightful prom party Wednes
day evening in honor of her at
tractive guests, Misses Johnson,
Kendrick and Gardner. In the
receiving line were Miss Johnson
wearing blue taffeta with pearls,
Miss Kendricks in nile green taf
feta trimmed in gold lace, Miss
Allen in yellow taffeta with trim
mings of blue rose buds and Miss
Mildred alien in white net over
pink taffeta. The house was beau
tifully decorated with palms,
ferns, red and white cut flowers
which was an introduction to the
color motif carried out in the ice
course served to the guests be

PETITION FOR CHARTER
State of Georgia—County of Butts.
To the Superior Court of Said County:
The petition of (lie PEPPERTON
COTTON MILI.S, a corporation with
its office and principal place of busi
ness in said county, respectfully' shows
to the Court as fellows:
Ist. That on the slh day of March,
1896, by order of the Superior Court of
said county, it was duly incorporated
with a capital stock of One Hundred
Thousand ($100,000.00) Dollars, with
the privilege of increasing the same
from time to time to an amount not
more than Five Hundred Thousand
($<>00,000.00) Dollars in the aggregate,
for the full term of twenty (20) years,
with the privilege of renewal as allow
ed by law.
2nd. As will appear from the origi
nal petition and order of incorporation
on the minutes of said court, the ob
ject and business of said corporation
was as follows: To manufacture all
classes of cotton goods, woolen goods
and yarns; to buy, sell, manufacture
and deal in all classes of woolen and
cotton materials; to buy and sell all
classes of cotton and woolen machin
ery; to operate the same, and also to
engage in a general merchandise busi
ness. The complete nature of said ob
ject and business being more particu
larly set forth in said original petition.
3rd. On the 28th day of November,
1896, by order of said Court, said origi
nal charter was amended in such man
ner as to make the minimum capital
stock of said company $50,000.00, as
will appear from the petition and order
granting said amendment on the min
utes of this Court, reference to which
is prayed.
4th. The original charter of said
corporation, as amended, expired by
limitation on the sth day of March,
1916, but through ignorance and over
sight, no petition for renewal was liled
before such expiration, and said corpo
ration has since continued in business.
stli. Said corporation desires a re
newal and reviyer of its said original
charter, as amended, for the full term
allowed by law, and a majority of the
stockholders of said corporation, at a
meeting regularly called for the pur
pose, due notice of which was given to
all stockholders, adopted a resolution
asking for such renewal and reviver.
6th. Said corporation further desires
an amendment toitssaid original char
ter, as amended, when and as the same
shall be renewed and revived, permit
ting and authorizing it to issue and
sell, from time to time, preferred stock,
in such series and amounts, and in such
proportion to common stock, witli such
preferences over common stock, as to
principal, dividends, etc,, and under
such terms, conditions, limitations,
and restrictions, and with such powers
forty guests by Miss Allen and
her assistants, was the growing
plants and flowers on the porch
and lawns and the soft glow from
the many Japanese lanterns that
seemed to transform the place
into a veritable fairyland.

ing duly called and held for the pur
pose, due notice of which was given to

from the minutes of the corporation,
showing that the application for re
newal and reviver, and the application
for amendment, have been authorized
by proper corporate action. Said ab
stract is hereto attached marked Ex
hibit “A.”
Wherefore, petitioner prays:
First. That its original charter, as
amended, be renewed and revived, as
and for the full term allowed by law.
Second. That when and as renewed
and revived, its said original charter,
as amended, be further amended in the
manner and to the extent herein set
forth.
