Invitations Recalled
Invitations to the morning rook
party at which Mrs. Pitts McKib
ben was to have entertained in
honor of Misses Mildred and
Rose Ella Thornton, Wednesday,
were recalled on account of the
recent bereavement in the family.
Mrs. Lane Entertains
On Thursday Mrs. Andrew W.
Lane entertained the members of
the Young Mothers Club and a
number of invited guests with a
lovely afternoon party at her hos
pitable home on Third street.
Mrs. Lane and her interesting
family are ever a delightful ac
quisition to the social life of
Jackson and it is sincerely regret
ted that September means their
return to Macon.
Mrs. Dempsey Hostess
The Young Mothers Club was
delightfully entertained by Mrs.
Jack Dempsey on Thursday af
ternoon of the past week. Dec
orations of zenias, roses and ferns
were used in the drawing room
and library where the guests
were entertained. Rev. Elam
Dempsey delighted the club with
a beneficial talk, his theme being
“Godin the Home.” and the
pretty musical selections by Mrs.
Maurice Wright were enjoyed.
After the interesting program
rook was played, refreshing
punch being served during the
afternoon by Misses Frances and
Lollie Carmichael, and at the
conclusion of the games, delicious
cream and cake were enjoyed.
In Honor Miss Minter
A pretty affair of the week was
the rook party with which Mrs.
H. J. Miller complimented her
guest. Miss Thelma Minter, of
Thomasville, inviting eight coup
les of the debutante set to meet
the charming honor guest, Tues
day evening. The porch which
was attractively decorated with
quantities of white clematis and
golden glow, with pretty grow
ing plants, was transformed into
an inviting summer parlor where
the interesting games were play
ed. Refreshing punch was serv
ed by Miss Mary Willis and Mrs.
Miller was assisted in entertain
ing by Miss Naidene Leach and
Mrs. Frank S. Carmichael. Late
in the evening a delicious salad
course with iced tea was served
at the small tables.

Atlanta this week.
Miss Reba Johnson is the guest
of Miss Viola Slaughter.

spent the past three years. Mrs.
Williams and James will visit
friends here for some time and
Capt. Williams remained in the
Phillipines for another year.
