NEWS - OF INTEREST IN THE REALM Picnic and Bowling Party A delightful compliment to Miss Thelma Minter, of Thomas ville, who is the guest of Mrs. H. J. Miller, was the picnic supper and bowling party with which Mrs. Miller entertained a number of couples at Indian Spring. Fri day evening. The party motored down and enjoyed a sumptuous supper on the pavilion at the Spring, after which the evening was spent in bowling. In Honor of Visitor Mrs. Pitts McKibben enter tained with an informal afternoon party, Saturday, inviting two tables of rook in honor of her sister, Miss Rosella Thornton, of Tallapoosa. The tables were placed in the the attractive living room which was beautifully dec orated with vases of black eyed Susans and golden glow, grace ful growing plants adding to the charming effects. After the game delicious sandwiches and iced tea was served. D. A. R. Meeting. The first fall meeting of the William Mclntosh chapter, D. A. R. will be held on Tuesday after noon at three o’clock at the home of the regent, Mrs. A. T. But trill. A full attendance is desir ed as matters of importance will be discussed. As is the usual custom each member will notify the hostess whether she will be present. Any members havihg any of the chapter books will kindly bring them to the meet ing. Rook Club Entertained Miss Helen Carmichael enter tained the members of her rook club and a number of visitors at a pretty afternoon party, Tues day, the affair being a delightful compliment to Miss Adams, of Barnesville, the guest of Mrs. Frank S. Carmichael, and to Miss Mary Lane who returned Wed nesday to her home in Macon af ter spending the summer months here. Baskets and vases of cut flowers and pretty growing plants were used with charming effect throughout the home and after the games a delicious salad course with iced ter was served. Mrs. Lane Entertains Mothers Club The lovely afternoon party with which Mrs. Andrew W. Lane complimented the Young Moth ers club at her home on Third street Thursday afternoon was one of the many delightful social affairs of the past week. The hospitable home was beautifully decorated with cut flowers, ferns and cunning little kewpies, the pink and white color effect and the kewpie idea being carried out NOT THE CHEAPEST At Times BUT CHEAPEST Id The LONG RUN in every detail. In the dining room a tall basket of pink roses with tiny kewpies surrounding it formed the attractive centerpiece for the lovely table, crystal com potes filled with pink and white mints completing the pretty pic ture. The heart shaped score cards were handpainted in little kewpies. Mrs. Lamar Etheridge, Misses Helen Carmichael and Mary Lane entertained the guests with lovely vocal and instrumen tal selections and punch was served from an attractive nook in the reception hall by Miss Helen Carmichael. Little Misses Vera Smith and Margaret Lane daintily gowned in white lingerie and lace dresses with pink rib bons, assisted the hostess and served ice cream and cakes which continued the pink and white idea. Mrs. Lane was as sisted in entertaining by Miss Mary Lane and Miss Hattie But trill, her guests including the members of the Young Mothers club and a number of visitors. Afternoon Party Miss Mary Willis entertained a number of friends at a pretty porch party Wednesday after noon. Tables were arranged for the interesting game of rook and artistic decorations of cut flow ers made a lovely setting for the young girls in their dainty sum mer frocks of lingerie and lace, with pretty picture hats. At the conclusion of the game a delight ful ice course was served. Mrs. H. J. Milller, Misses Naidine Leach, Thelma Minter and little Miss Frances McKibben assisted the young hostess in receiving and entertaining her guests. PERSONAL Mr. H. 0. Ball is in New York for two weeks. Miss Sallie Ball is visiting friends in Griffin. Miss Janie Hearn is the guest of Miss Pauline Mallet. Mrs. Carrie Dupree Smith and children spent Monday in Atlanta. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. McKibben visited relatives in Eatonton this week. Mr. J. A. Plunkett, of Lithonia, visited friends here during the week. Mrs. W. F. Malaier left Wed nesday to spend a month in At lanta. Mr. and Mrs. Fav Willis an nounce the birth of a daughter, Tuesday. Mrs. J. H. McKibben and Mar garet spent part of the week in Macon with Mrs. L. R. Aiken, Mrs. Aiken and children are ex pected the latter part of the week for a visit to Mrs. McKibben. Miss Melissa Golden, of Colum bus, is the attractive guest of Mrs. Lamar Etheridge. Mrs. Duncan Burnet and chil dren, of Athens, are visiting Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Daughtry. Mrs. Maurice Wright spent the week-end in Atlanta as the guest of Mrs. Clayton Matthews. Misses Lois and Rose McDon ald. of Snapping Shoals, are guests of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Allen. Mrs. C. E. Carter, of Concord, is the guest of Mrs. C. S. Mad dox and her brother, Mr. N. N. Maddox. Mrs. Lamar Etheridge and her guest, Miss Melissa Golden, of Columbus, spent Monday in Mc- Donough. Miss Laura Daughtry returned Saturday from a month’s visit to her sister, Mrs. Duncan Burnet, in Athens. Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Wright, Mrs. Park Newton and John Johnson motored to Atlanta to spend Friday. Mrs. W. P. Watkins and sons. Mark and Dan, who have been visiting Mrs. C. S. Miss Thelma Wood has been visiting in Hawkinsville and Cochran where she was delight fully entertained. Miss Wood will attend school at the Castle, Tarrytown-on-the-Hudson, this fall.
