An old colored man, beloved by his white people as a true and faith ful servant. Flowers and the presence of his white friends at tested the esteem in which he was held. He was 95 years old. Mr. Edward Cornell accompa nied Mr. Lewelyn Haley on an automobile trip to Florida. Miss Florence Crawford is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Meade Crawford at the Varner cottage. Mr. Ben Watkins will return to Tennessee to attend school for AOJOURNED TERM COURT CONVENES HERE MONDAY The adjourned tern 1 of Butts superior court will convene here Monday fur the trial of damage suits against the Central Georgia Power Cos., a large number of which are pending. One crimi nal case, that of Jesse Fletcher charged with murder, will be tried the first thing Monday. There is a good deal of interest attached to these suits, and the outcome of the cases will be watched with attention. It is not known how many days court will be in session, but it is sup posed Judge Searcy will adjourn Tuesday for the election, in order to give everybody an opportunity to go home and vote. Section I Pnraetaph 2. of the Constitution of this State, in reference to the amend ment creating the County of Bacon. Bv his Excellency, NAT E. HARRIS, Governor. State of Georgia, Executive Department, August 28. 1010. Whereas the General Assemh'v 't its session in 1016 proposed an amendment to the Constitution of this State as set forth in an act approved August 18, 1! 16 to wit The following amendment to Article II Section 1 Paragraph 2. >f the Co-, •dilution of Georgia, is hereby proposed to (lie people of Georgia by the House •f Representatives of tin* General As sembly of the State of Georgia. The amendment is proposed to that portion of said section, paragraph and article which creates the County of Ba con, and is as follows; "That said County of Bacon is here by declared to tie a statutory county, the General Assembly of the State ol Georgia is hereby given the power by legisiutlon to create local oftices ami. local courts in the said county other inan tiu.-e provided tor in t-tns Con stitution; and it is further declared that the General Assembly shall have tno same power to legislate in reference to said County of Bacon that it is now as to other counties in the State That all laws applicable to the counties In this State are lietehy made to apply to tins said County of Bacon. That said Coun ty of Bacon is hereby authorized to create a bonded debt not to exceed one hundred thousand collars iif IMl,Utwi for public Improvements In said County o Bacon, by the consent of the majority of the regular qualified voters of said County of Bacon voting at an election for that purpose.
