R. members wish to tender their thanks to the fol lowing persons and firms for aid in the barbecue given Tuesday of last week: Mrs. M. C. Wright for the use of her car, the mem bers who assisted in serving, * Messrs. A. C. Finley and Dave Maddox for their services so gen erously rendered. Mrs. Wright Entertains in Honor of Miss Garr Mrs. Maurice C. Wright was hostess at a lovely sewing party Saturday afternoon at 3 o’clock in compliment to Miss Esta Garr whose marriage to Mr. Sam John son. of Jacksonville, Fla., was an interesting event of Thursday af ternoon. Beautiful decorations of cos mos and growing plants were seen in the living room and mu sic room while carnations and ferns were used with charming effect in the dining room, a tall ' crystal vase of pink carnations making the attractive center piece for the pretty table. Each guest brought, as bidden, 'her thimble and scissors, all oth %'r requisites for sewing being supplied by the hostess, and as the busy fingers kept time to the music so gracefully rendered by Miss Lula Gibson, of Forsyth, many dainty stitches were made for the fortunate bride-elect who received also a lovely hand-made boudoir cap and negligee for guest s prize. A delightful salad course with iced tea was served late in the ►‘afternoon, Mrs. Wright being as sisted by Mrs. J. S. Johnson. Mrs. Park Newton and Miss Net tie Rae Pittman. Garr-Johnson Wedding An Interesting Event of Thursday The marriage of Miss Esta Garr and Mr. Sam Johnson which tcok place at the pretty country home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. D. Garr, was a love ly event of Thursday afternoon, the ceremony being performed by Dr. Robert VanDeventer of the First Baptist church at half after four o’clock. In the large living room an arch of smilax studded with white candles with a background of graceful ferns formed the altar about which the bridal partv grouped. Graduating pedestals of white covered with smilax and holding crystal candelabra with burning tapers completed the pretty picture. The welding march was im pressively played by Miss Lula Gibson, of Forsyth, the two ma trons of honor entering the liv ing room first, Mrs. Maurice Wright wearing a beautiful gown of pink crepe and carrying white carnations while Mrs. Maurice Garr was lovely in white crepe and carried pink carnations. The bride entering with the groom was beautiful in her handsome going away suit of blue cloth with hat to match. Her gloves and shoes were of gray and she wore a corsage bouquet of orchids and valley lilies. An informal reception followed the ceremony and in the dining room where coffee was served, smilax, pink carnations and ferns were used in the attractive deco rations. The table which was beautiful in its appointments had for its centerpiece a crystal bas ket of pink carnations, the han dle tied with tulle, resting on a cluny lace cover. Crystal com potes filled with pink and white mints and crystal candlesticks holding pink tapers completed the charming effect. The cream and cakes served continued the p etty pink and white color m >ti f. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson motored to Jackson and left on the north bound train for a trip to Balti more, Washington, Philadelphia and New York after which they will make their home in Jackson vil'e. Miss Leila Sams came up from Wesleyan to attend the Sams- Miller wedding. Mrs. Luther Joyner and young son. Joe, of Macon, are visiting Mrs. J. R. Carmichael. Mrs. George Head was hostess at the W. C. T. U. social meet ing on Wednesday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Morrison Settle and Mr. and Mrs. Bert Carmich ael spent Wednesday in Macon. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lawson, Miss Carrie Collier, Mrs. Ed Hoard, Miss Joe Varner, and Mr. Ben Wright represented Indian Soring at the Fair Thursday. Among those attending the Southeastern fair in Atlanta dur ing the week were Mr. and Mrs. VV. A. Newton. Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Miller, Misses Mary and Rosa Newton, Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Crawford. Mrs. Troy McClure is in Atlan ta where she underwent an oper ation for appendicitis, Monday. She is doing nicely now. Dr. E. K.
