“WATCH PARTY” CAUSED EX
CITEMENT MONDAY NIGHT
Ringing of Bell Thought to Be The
Fire Alarm
A party of young people who were
having a “watch party” Monday
night to see the passing of the old
year and the coming in of the new,
Caused considerable excitement at
the midnight hour by ringing the bell
in the court house. By many it was
thought to be the fire alarm and
more than one vigilant member of
the fire department was aroused from
his warm bed by the ringing of the
bell. Investigation disclosed the
source of the noise, and those w ho
had crept out of their warm beds
crept back again as fast as possible.
The War Trade Board is granting
no licenses for the export of commo
dities containing wool which are nec
essary for the military or naval uses
of the United States.
The government experts have it
figured out that there are thirty
bushels of corn for each citizen in
the United States. That will stave off
hunger for a while.

If you are awakened by the hoarso
