JACKSON PROGRESS-ARGUS
GEORGIANS ASKED
TO RAISE HOGS
I
Georgia will soon begin a vigorous
and determined campaign to increase
pork production this year, as the fol
lowing letter from Dr. Soule to Col.
J. T. Moore, county food administra
tor, will show:
The United States government has
asked the State of Georgia to increase
pork production 10 per cent during
the year of 1918 as our contribution,
to the food supply for the coming
year. This is a reasonable request
and will be easily accomplished if all
of the itnerests will do their share.
A definite swine campaign will be
launched in every county of the state j
for the week beginning February 18th
In every county where there is a de
monstration agent, he will be in ac
tive c harge of the campaign, and will
be supplied with literature outlining
the policies that should be pursued,
but he will need the assistance of ev
ery interest, including the bankers
and other business men, county school
superintendent and teachers, newspa
pers, etc. It is planned to hold daily
schoolhouse meetings. I trust that
you will lend your assistance in mak
ing this special swine campaign a suc
cess. Please ask your local newspa
per editors to help in this very impor
tant and essential matter.
Very respectfully,
ANDREW M. SOULE,
Federal Food Administrator for
Georgia.

whether he took any nitrate or not.
