BURGLARS FAIL
TO FORCE DOOR
Attempt to Rob Bank at
Jenkinsburg
NO CLUE YET OBTAINED
TWO CHARGES OF NITROGLY
CERINE FAIL TO FORCE DOOR
AND ROBBERS GIVE UP JOB
NO BOOTY SECURED
An unseccessfu) attempt was made
to burglarize the Farmers Bank at
Jenkinsburg Wednesday night of the
past week.
The bank was entered through the
rear door and two charges of nitro
glycerine were u sed to break open
the door to the vault. These efforts
were not successful, and the would
be burglars were either frightened
off or quit after their failure to force
the door.
The attempted robbery was not dis
covered until next morning when the
bank was opened for business. A rain
fell in the early hours of the morning
anil it was impossible to find any
trace of the intruders
It is generally believed that the
work was done by amateurs.
The door was considerably damag
ed, though the lock was still intact and
the bank officials had to use a drill
before the door to he vault could be
opened.

Cincinnati Man Discovert
Drug That Loosens Corns
So They Lift Out
Good news spreads rapidly and
druggists here are kept busy dispen
sing freezone, the recent discovery of
a Cincinnati man, which is said to
loosen any corn s6 it lifts out with
the fingers.
A quarter of an ounce costs very
little at any store which handles
drugs, but this is said to be sufficient
to rid one’s feet of every hard or
soft c om or callus.
You apply just a few drops on the
tender, aching corn or toughened cal
lus and instantly the soreness is re
lieved, and soon the corn or callus is
so shriveled (that it lifts out without
pain. It is a sticky substances which
dries when applied and never inflam
es or irritates the surrounding skin.
This discovery will prevent thous
ands of deaths annually from lock
jaw and infection heretofore result
ing from the suicidal habit of cutting
corns.
WOULD HAVE STORES CLOSE
TO PROVIDE GARDENS
Suggeition Is Made That Clerks Have
Two Half Holidays
A suggestion made by the state
college of agriculture that the stores
in towns of five thousand and less
close two half days each week to give
the clerks an opportunity to work in
gardens, will be of interest here.
As outlined the plan would provide
that the stores be closed two half days
each week (preferably Tuesday and
Thursday mornings) to allow the mer
chants and employees to prepare and
cultivate their gardens, the fact being
evident that with the scarcity and
high prices of labor around towms of
that size it is almost impossible for
many families who desire home gar
dens to have them.

FEED OUT YOUR HOGS SIX
WEEKS EARLIER
In every lot of hogs on feed two or
three weeks quickly and actually eat
less than others. If all would fatten
like these, the entire drove would be
ready for the market six weeks
earlier and to save six weeks feed is
an item that you fully understand.
The hog that fattens easily must be
in prime physical condition. The B.
A Thomas’ Hog Powder is a condi
tioner for hogs. It keeps their system
clean and healthy and enables them
to fatten quickly without falling prey
to the usual diseases of hogs. The B.
A. Thomas’ Hog Powder is not stock
food. It’s straight medicine and we
took the agency because it enables
you to feed out your hogs much ear

JACKSON PROGRBfiR-ARGUS
THE NEED OF OUR COUNTRY
By John D. Heard, Jenkinsburg, Ga.
If a farmer would stop to think a
minute about how he is going to
plant his next crop he would think of
some of the needs of our country and
he would help Uncle Sam, while he is
in great need for food and every far
mer would go fifty-fifty with his next
crop.
Uncle Sam does not only want us
ta raise enugh food for ourselves but
he wants us to raise enough so we
can feed the Allies, for if they are
starved out that means the end of the
war and peace on German basis and
that would mean four years of a hard
struggle for nothing. Let us all co
operate and help Uncle Sam in the
time of distress and keep Germany
from crushing all Europe, as well as
impeding the progress of the United
States.
