COMPUTING MACHINE BUILT
FOR LUMBER BUSINESS
To reduce the arithmetical work
and accompanying errors with which
lumber dealers contend when filling
orders, a special calculating machine
has been brought forth and described
in an illustrated article in the March
Popular Mechanics Magazine. It
simplifies the computation of board
footage by making the tally man’s
duties similar to those of an adding
machine operator.

JACKSON PROGRE6S-ARGUS
BIG BOND DRIVE
NEXT TUESDAY
Various Organizations to
Take Part
"STAMP IN EVERY HOME"
With the various patriotic and civ
ic organizations taking -part, Jackson
will stage a big drive for the sale of
Thrift and War Saving Stamps next
Tuesday, March 19.
The town will be thoroughly cover
ed by the Daughters of the American
Revolution, Daughters of the Confed
eracy, Boy Scouts and Mothers Club.
Each of the four wards will be taken
over by one or another of these or
ganizations and when the campaign
closes it is hoped to have a Thrift or
War Saving Stamp in every home.
Jackson is falling behind in the
purchase of these stamps. Other com
munities have bought heavily of these
securities and one object of the drive
is to arouse the people to the impor
tance of buying these stamps and help
the government at the time when it
needs help.
Thrift and War Saving Stamps
are an even better investment than
Liberty Bonds, inasmuch as they pay
a better rate of interest. Every per
son cannot buy a Liberty Bond, but
certainly every person can afford the
price of a Thrift or War Saving
Stamp.
Get ready to help out in this cam
paign, and help see to it Jackson
makes a good showing.
The New York Independent quotes
Mrs. Gap Johnson as saying, “There
are four motor cars to every bathtub
in Kansas.” We wonder if there are
any sections of the South of which
the same thing is true? Let’s not
have fewer motor cars but more bath
tubs. For information on this point,
look for next week’s“ Paint, Lights and
Waterworks Special.”—The Progres
sive Farmer.

AFTER TWO YEARS
Macon Testimony Remains Unshaken
Time is the best test of truth. Here
is a Macon story that has stood the
test of time. It is a story with a
point which will come straight home
to many of us.
G. W. Harden, 513 Main st., Ma
con, Ga., says: “Off and cn for five
or six years I was bothered by at
tacks of backache, caused by disor
dered kidneys. Whenever I caught
cold or exerted myself my kidneys
became affected and a dull pain was
sure to settle right across the small
of my back. I became so lame and
sore through my loins that it was
difficult for me /to continue my work.
The kidney secretions, at such times,
were entirely too frequent in pas
sage. I also suffered from pains they
said were inflammatory rheumatism
I tried a number of kidney medicines
but nothing did me much good until
I began taking Doan’s Kidney Pills.
I bought them ait DeWitt McCrary’s
Drug Store and used about five
boxes. By that time I was entirely
cured.”
A LATER ENDORSEMENT
OVER TWO YEARS LATER Mr.
Harden said: “I have very little need
of a kidney medicine now. I gladly
confirm all I said before in praise of
Doan’s Kidney Pills. They are the
best remedy I ever used and will do
al that is claimed for them.”

Not strange for the Studebaker because the hubs are
of fine, close grain tough, strong and treated with a
secret sealing solution that is weather resisting.
Notice the hubs on the next Studebaker you pass on the
road you’ll find they are not split or checked like the
ordinary wagon.
And in these hubs are set the famous Studebaker slope
shoulder spokes.
The Studebaker Farm Wagon Wheel is best made.
We sell the Studebaker because we believe it is the big
gest wagon value on the market.

Every man for his country, and ev
