It is not known if all those elected will accept. Two places are yet t be filled, one in the grammar school and one in the high school de partment. JENKINSBURG Mary Manning Mrs. J. W. Harper entertained Friday night at a reception in honor of the Senior Class. Those present were Herschel Harris, John D. A War Saving Society, including the ones who had bought or sold Thrift Stamps, a Thrift Club for the ones who wanted to save systematically, organized, and a Club Society consisting of the mem bers of the different clubs over which Mr. Blackwell and Mrs. Butner pre side. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gilmore and Curtis were visitors here Monday from Monticello. Mr. Eugene Caldwell, of Eastman, was a visitor here Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Manning and little son, Philip, of East Point, spent Sunday with Mrs. P. V. Manning. JOHNSON RECEIVES PROMOTION The many Butts county friends of Lieut. Charles S. Johnson will be in terested to know that he has been promoted from second to first lieuten ant in the regular army and trans ferred from Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., to Fort Sill, Olcla. At Fort Sill Lieut. Johnson will receive instruction in machine gun tactics under a British officer. The promotion dates from Oct. 25, last year, and Lieut. Johnson will draw the pay of a first lieutenant from that date. His success in the regular army is a matter of pride to his friends in his home town and county.
