MADDOX ' YIELDS TO DEATH At the age of 84 years. Mr. Henry R. Maddox, a well known citizen of the county dropped dead at the home of his niece, Mrs. W. M. Mitchell, near Worthville, Wednesday morning about 7:30 o’clock. It is supposed that death was due to heart trouble. Mr. Maddox was a highly esteemed citizen of the county and had a large nurnbe of friends who were pained to learn of his passing. Sell Stamps BAD WEATHER HINDERS On account of the unfavorable weather not all of the oranizations took part in the canvass Tuesday af ternoon for the sale of War Savings Stamps. Only the first and fourth wards were covered Tuesday, and the other wards will be worked later. In the fourth ward the Boy Scouts team, composed of Julian Turner, Leonard Lyons, Henry Allen, Ernest Newton, David Leach, reported a sale of $18.75. In the first ward the W. C. T. U., in charge of Mrs. R. P. Sasnett and Mrs. Paul Nolen reported sales amounting to $378.50. This was con sidered an encouraging showing. Date for the next drive has not been announced. Nothing gave him more pleasure while home, than in meet ing so many of his Civil War friends, among them Mr. W. A. Elder, Mr. Van Smith, of Cork, who was one of his. lieutenants, and Mr. T. J. Car son, all veterans of the Butts Volun teers. Hodges, of near Cork, have the sympathy of their friends in the death of their infant, which occurred Tuesday morning. The interment was at Sandy Creek cemetery Wednesday morning. GIRLS!
