Jackson Banking Cos.
STATE DEPOSITARY ESTABLISHED 1888
MONEY Makes MONEY
Interest on investment is the surest source of income. Money
works 24 hours a day and seven days a week.
More people are made independent by saving than by slaving.
England has invested to wonderful advantage. Every year sta
tistics show that England buys more from other countries than
she sells to them. But interest on investment does not show in
the statistical tables.
That is why England is rich.
Money placed in a savings bank is an investment safe and sure.
Make yourself independent.

BEELZEBUB AND BILL
The Kaiser got a letter; on asbestos it
was writ;
It was so very warm he could hardly
handle it;
It came direct from Hades, as the
stamp upon it showed,
And safely reached the palace, via
Hell’s Interurban Road;
A goodly whiff of brimstone from the
red envelope rose;
Unpleasantly it titillated Kaiser Wil
helm’s nose.
He hastened to release the sheet and
it before him spread,
And, after taking several breaths, the
following he read:
‘ My rear old chum: I’m sitting on a
bank of red hot coals
To pen a friendly letter, for we are
congenial souls;
I go about, a roaring lion, upon the
land and sea,
You know I am the Devil, Bill, but
you’ve out-deviled me;
I know you haven’t got a heart, al
though you have a brain,
I envy you the women and the chil
dren you have slain.
You made the earth a graveyard, and
I long to see you here,
To take to my bosom, Bill, and whis
per in your ear.
“Old Judas waits to greet you and he
longs to take you rhand,
And Herod at Hell’s portals hot will
meet you with a band;
If you delay your coming, Bill, you’ll
disappoint you own,
And in your august favor I will abdi
cate my throne.
Just bum a few more cities ere you
turn your steps this way,
And bayonet the babies, for they
might grow up some day.
I stand for German Kultur, as it.

stands for blood and lust;
Old Nick is with you, Wilhelm, for in
him you put your trust.
“Hell waits to greet you, comrade; we
will have a royal feast;
You’ll feel at home among us, for it
will be beast and beast.
For years you’ve been my agent and
my wishes you have filled;
I’ll toast you at the banquet in the
blood that you have spilled;
I’ve a mortgage o[n, you,, though, you
are a twin of mine;
I’m praying for you nightly, Bill, but
not in words divine.
Keep up a little longer in your prac
tices of evil.
In gratitude I sign myself, Beelzebub,
the Devil.”

FEED OUT YOUR HOGS SIX
WEEKS EARLIER
In every lot of hogs on feed two or
three weeks quickly and actually eat
less than others. If all would fatten
like these, the entire drove would be
ready for the market six weeks
earlier and to save six weeks feed is
an item that you fully understand.
The hog that fattens easily must be
in prime physical condition. The B.
A Thomas’ Hog Powder is a condi
tioner for hogs. It keeps their system
clean and healthy and enables them
to fatten quickly without falling prey
to the usual diseases of hogs. The B.
A. Thomas’ Hog Powder is not stock
food. It’s straight medicine and we
took the agency because it enables
you to feed out your hogs much ear
lier.

the retail dealer, the packer performs
a complex and essential service with
the maximum of efficiency.

CEDAR ROCK CLUB NOTES
The Club meeting last Friday was
of very much interest.
One of the state supervisors was
with us and gave us an interesting
talk on the war in connection with
the clubs.
The Cedar Rock school is very pa
triotic. On Friday night we had a
Red Cross entertainment that
brought SB.IO.
Next Friday we are going to have
a War Savings program.
Several off hand speeches are go
ing to be made by students from out
lines prepared before hand. We are
all trying to see who can make the
best speech.
