DON. EMMETT SHAW TO
SPEAK HERE SATURDAY
Hon. Emmett R. Shaw, candidate
for the United States senate, who will
address the voters of Butts county
in Jackson Saturday afternoon at 4

public men in the current political

forts, unlimited energy, perseverence
and self-confidence being marked
characteristics of the man.
That Mr. Shaw will be given a pa
tient and attentive hearing upon the
occasion of his visit Saturday there
can be no doubt. A speaker of more
than ordinary ability, he will enter
tain the voters who can arrange to be
present. Mr. Shaw will outline his
platform and tell vihy he should be
elected to the senate at this time. He
has also asked Harris and Hardwick
to divide time with him.
The speaking is advertised for 4
o’clock at the county court house.

THE JACKSON PROGRESS-ARGUS, JACKSON, GEORGIA, FRIDAY, MAY 10, 1918
GOOD RESULTS
FROM MEETING
Services at Tbe Methodist
Church Over Sunday
TWENTY SEVEN MEMBERS
WHOLE COMMUNITY HELPED BY
SERIES OF REVIVAL SERVICES
GOOD ATTENDANCE AND
WHOLESOME INTEREST
With an addition to the church of
twenty-seven members, the series of
meetings which have been in progress
at the Jackson Methodist church for
two weeks, closed Sunday night. In
point of permanent good accomplish
ed it is doubted if the church in its
entire history ever had a more suc
cessful meeting.
Rev. S. R. England, the pastor,
chose to do the preaching himself.
The church has possibly had more
sensational meetings, but certainly
none where a strong and. convincing
gospel v. as brought closer heme to the
people. The sermons of Mr. England
impressed all who heard them on ac
count of their direct append, sincerity,
clearness ani conciseness. He is be
ing congratulated on the good results
accomplished during the two weeks
services.
Of exceptional high merit was the
singing. There were two large cho
ruses, the adult chorus and one com
posed of children. The blending of
these well trained voices in adoration
and praise constituted a helpful and
inspiring feature of each service. An
orchestra also rendered music at the
meetings.
During the progress of the meet
ings the membership of the other
churches in the community showed a
splendid spirit of co-operation, and
the attendance was unusually good.
The whole community, it is believed,
will long feel the constructure force
and uplifting influence of these meet
ings.

ORDER YOUR COAL NOW
Inasmuch as the coal situation bids
fair to be more or less uncertain this
summer we suggest that every one
place their orders with us as soon as
possible for their winter’s supply
vihich cannot exceed the amount con
sumed last winter.
We want these applications now so
that we can advise the State Fuel Ad
ministrator the amount of tonnage
that Jackson will require and then
ask his help in securing enough to
supply the demand. We will accept
all applications subject to the follow
ing conditions:
Same to be delivered between now
and Oct. 1, 1918, in the order in
which the applications are received,
For Cash, at the price fixed by the
Government, plus profit allowed us by
the Government, delivery subject to
our ability to secure enough to fill all
orders. If we fail to get enough to
fill all orders, wc reserve the right to
cancel that portion of orders unfilled
when, we have exhausted our supply.
If all will co-operate with us at this
time we believe that we can secure
enough to supply everybody who
wants to obtain their winter’s sup
ply of coal during the summer.

COMMISSIONER GASTON RECEI
VES ASSURANCE THAT BUTTS
WILL GET HER QUOTA OF FED
ERAL ROAD FUND SOON
That Butts county will soon receive
"ederal aid for her public roads, is
the assurance given County Commis
sioner J. O. Gaston by Judge T. E.
Patterson, chairman of the prison
Commission and the Georgia Highway
Commission. A fund for several hun
dred million dollars will soon be re
leased by the government for use on
the highways in the several states.
Georgia’s quota will be announced
within a short time, and Mr. Gaston
has received assurances that Butts
county will share the fund.
With this aid from the national
government, supplemented by the
county levy, Butts county would be
able to forge still further to the front
in road building. The money, it is
stated, will be used on the main high
ways of the county, and in building
model roads. That link of the Dixie
Highway passing through Butts coun
ty is one of the most important in the
whole system, and it is thought the
government money will be available
in tune for rise this season.
Just what amount will be allotted
to Butts county is not known, though
official assurance has been given that
the money will be ready for use with
in a short time, and that Butt3 county
will get her full quota of the federal
funds.
Mr. Gaston has been tireless in his
efforts to get this money for use on
the county roads, and has finally been
successful.

f0 PALE PEOPLE—
YOUR BLOOD MAY BE
STARVING FOR IRON!
If Your Blood Needs Iron, It Needs ZIRON, the New
Compound of Iron, Which Acts as a Strength
ening Tonic, Enriching the Blood and
Building up the System.
When ycur blood lacks llie proper proportion of red corpuscles to give your
complexion the ‘‘rosy hue of health” and your complexion is pale, “pasty-look
ing”, perhaps even greenish-tinged, you are probably of an anemic or chlorotic
nature, and your blood needs Ziron, to bring back the rich, red flush of health.
Ziron, the new compound of iron, the hypophosphites of lime and soda, and
ether tonic, strengthening ingredients, has been found of great value in conditions
cf simple anemia, chlorosis, debility, nervousness, lack of ambition, loss of appe
tite, dyspepsia, etc. It is a valuable, reconstructive tonic, in cases of weakness,
and helps build up the constitution after severe illness.
Mrs. Mae Belle Perkins, of Adairsville, Ga., writes: “About two months ago
I got to feeling badly. My back hurt me badly, and my legs and arms hurt too,
and I didn’t have any appetite at all to eat. About two weeks ago I commenced
taking Ziron, according to directions on the bottle ... By the time I had taken the
medicine for a week, I could see it was doing me good. 1 had been weak and
nervous, and it made me feel stronger, and I’m not a bit nervous now. My back is
all right, and my arms and legs do not ache. And my appetite is good again.
Before I started using Ziron 1 wouldn’t rest at night, I was so tired feeling and
felt worn out. I have used nearly the whole bottle and now I sleep fine every
night. It sure is a fine medicine, and lam glad I tried it.”
Ziron is non-alcoholic, contains no habit-forming drugs, acts gently, lias no bad
after-effects, is good for men, women and children. It is a medicine of genuine
merit, composed of ingredients prescribed by eminent physicians. Try it.
