ORDER YOUR COAL NOW
Orders Should Be Placed Immediately to Insure Delivery
Persons desiring coal for summer or early fall delivery should place their orders
NOW. Coal is now under Government control and regulation and can be sold
only upon application on blanks furnished by the County Fuel Administrator.
It is possible that coal will be as scarce this winter as last. If you wish to insure
your supply, you should furnish us with your application for the amount of coal need
ed through April 1,1919. This amount should not exceed the amount consumed
during the winter.
These applications will enable us to secure the aid of the United States Fuel Ad
ministration in getting coal shipped. The price will be that fixed by the Goverment
at time delivery is made, plus the profit allowed for distribution.
We will endeavor to serve the public efficiently, but must have ycur co-operation.
We will keep on hand a stock of
THE BEST GRADES OF COAL
and will appreciate your orders, which will be filled subject to the rules of the Fuel
Administration.
If you have not already done so, order your coal as EARLY as possi
ble, while the railroads are not congested and there is a possibility of
having coal delivered before the busy season begins.
Application blanks may be had at our office or at the Jackson Banking Cos.

MANDAMUS PROCEEDINGS FILED
TO FORCE PAYMENT OF OLD
CLAIM—DECISION IN CASE TO
BE MADE FIRST OF JUNE
Another feature of the Jackson

in the courts for several years, from
the period of 1905 to 1912, was pre

E. H. Searcy, Jr., in Griffin, in the
form of a mandamus requiring the
county commissioner to pay the in

to some $14,000 and the interest to
date brings the total to twenty odd

This litigation is familiar to the
people of the county and has been
thrashed out in the state and supreme
court.
The plaintiff is represented by Col.
C. L. Redman, of Jackson, and C. J.
Haden, of Atlanta. It is sought to
force the county commissioner to levy
a tax to retire this indebtedness. The
county is represented by Col. W. E.

There is a more serious stage of

The real danger comes from the
tendency of the disease to continue
its course downward until the lungs
become affected, and then dreaded
consumption is on your path. Your
