WOMEN TORTURED!
Suffer Terribly With Corns
Because of High Heels, but
Why Care Now
Women wear high heels which
buckle up their toes and they Buffer
terribly from corns. Women then pro
ceed to trim these pests, peeking re
lief, but they hardly realize the ter
rible danger from infection, say a
Cincinnati authority.
Corns can easily be lifted out with
the fingers if you will get from any
drug store a quarter of an ounce of
a drug called freezone. This is suffi
cient to remove every hard or soft
com or callus from one’s feet. You
simply apply a few drops directly
upon the tender aching com or cal
lus. The soreness is relieved at once
and soon the entire com or callus,
root and all, lifts out without one
particle of pain.
This freezone is a stick substance
which dries in a moment. It just
shrivels up the com without inflam
ing or even irritating the surround
ing tissue or skin. Tell your wife
about this. advt.

STRONG PROGRAM MADE SES
SION NOTABLE POLITICS
ELIMINATED-VISITORS WERE
ROYALLY ENTERTAINED
Confining itself strictly to discus
sion of business matters, the amnual
convention of the Georgia Weekly
Press Association, held in Wrights
ville Monday, Tuesday and Wednes
day, was one of the most important
sessions held in a number of years.
Speeches of outsiders and politicians
were eliminated this year, and the as
sociation got down to a discussion of
the business of printing a newspaper
under war conditions and of being of
most service to the country in its
greatest crisis.
Patriotism and business were the
keynotes of the meeting. A program
of many excellent features had been
arranged, and the editors were enter
tained in a royal manner by the citi
zens of Wrightsville and community.
The speakers included Dr. L. G.
Hardman, state fuel administrator,
amd Judge A. J. Cobb, of Athens.
While in Wrightsville the editors
were given a barbecue at Idylwild,
and a garden party on the court
house lawn. On Wednesday the citi
zens of Dublin complimented the edi
tors with a picnic, which was the con
cluding social feature. No -pleasure
trip was taken this year, as usual,
and after the business meeting and
picnic at Dublin the editors returned
to their respective homes.
FARMERS ENJOYING LIFE
AFTER THE WORK SEASON
Well, we are about dome laying by
except a furrow hi the middle of our
cotton rows if the drop falls right.
We don’t expect to do a thing from
now until fodder pulling time but lay
n the shade and go around and thump
our neighbor’s watermelons. Yes, we
expect to taste of everything good
under the sun for the next thirty days
Yes, if you want to realize all in
life there Is in |t —and there is a
great deal in it—some of these
bright and sunny days and just as the
sun is kissing away the dewdrops
from the eastern hills take a lunch
and your wife on your arm and spend
a day in the woods. Take along with
you the news testament, a volume of
Byron, Shakespeare, Tennyson, Pope,
or Bums and go until you penetrate
the enterior of some forest and there
sit down on the roots of some majes
tic oak and then incline yourself at
an angle of about 45 degrees and
then let nature and nature’s God take
full possession of your soul, and listen
to the beetle keep time with the
song of the rain crow, the squirrel
bark in the hammock and the dron
ing waters of a distant creek. And
here let me say as I have said before
upholstered chair s and Brussels car
pets just ain’t in it when it comes to
matters like these.
If any farmer wpl do as I have
suggested you will love your wife
better and she will love you better.
If you will do this yours and your
wife’s courtship will be like Tenny
son’s brook—it will go on forever.

PREVENT HOG CHOLERA
The B. A. Thomas Hog Powder
has a record of 95 per cent cures of
Hog Cholera. If you feed your hogs
as directed, you need never fear hog
cholera nor any other hog disease.
And the directions are very simple,
just about what you are doing, plus
a few cents worth of B. A. Thomas’
Hog Powder in the feed twice a
week.
Usually, though, cholera gets in
before we know it. Then it requires
close attention to each hog—each
hog must be dosed—and if you will
dose them as directed, you will save
better than 90 per cent. If you
don’t, the B. A. Thomas medicine
costs you nothing. We—not some
distant manufacturer pay your
money back.

FINDS FARMERS LOYAL
PRESIDENT THOUGHT ADVANCE
WAS UNNECESSARY— WOULD
HAVE AFFECTED ALREADY
HIGH COST OF LIVING
Washington, July 12.—1n vetoing
the $28,000,000 annual agricultural
appropriation bill because of its
amendment fixing the government
guaranteed minimum wheat price at
$2.40 a bushel, the president inform
ed congress today that he did not be
lieve the farmers of America “depend
upon a stimulation of price to do
their utmost to serve the nation and
the world at this time of crisis.”
The president said the patriotic
spirit of the farmers has been “vior
thy of all praise and has shown them
playing a most admirable and grati
fying part in the full mobilization-of
the resources of the country.” He
added that the bumper crops that
they have raised this year have re
lieved “the anxiety of the nations ar
rayed against Germany with regain
to their food supplies.”
A fixed minimum price of $2.40 a
bushel, the president said, would in
crease the price of flour from $10.50
to $12.50 a barrel and would put an
additional burden of $387,000,000
this year on consumers. Such an in
crease in price, he said, would force a
similar increase in Canada, thus en
larging the whole scale of financial
operations in this country by the al
lied governments and affecting prac
tically the entire world.
The house is expected to pass the
bill tomorrow with the price fixing
amendment eliminated, leaving the
guaranteed price $2.20 a bushel.
