RED CROSS NOTES
The work room which has been
closed for several weeks will be open
ed next week as soon as the new al
lotment which has been assigned for
September arrives. Outside work has
been in progress, although the rooms
have been closed and the government
order for 300 comfort kits has been
completed and gent in to headquarters
also the 1,000 small shot bags have
been finished and everything will be
in readiness for the September allot
ment and it is hoped the rooms can
be re-opened Tuesday. All ladies who
can possibly give time at all are re
quested to join the Red Cross forces
in mending and patching underwear
for the soldiers. Five hundred gar
ments will be sent to this chapter
and now will be the test for all work
ers to prove their patriotism. We
claim to be patriotic but do we prove
it by our every day works? Can’t we
be willing to do our littl bit while the
soldiers are giving their lives for üb?
Too many flimsy excuses prevent
many of us from our Red Cross duties
Let us not be slackers but let the wo
men of our community rally to this
worthy cause!
That the work is essential to the
welfare of our soldiers, all agree, and
letters from all the boys at camp and
at the front tell the good the Red
Cross i a doing . The increasing army
calls for increasing work everywhere
and it is hoped the women will keep
pace and do their “bit” in the won
derful part they have in the present
conflict.
