GENERAL PRESENT
MENTS GRAND JURY
We, the Grand Jury, sworn and em
paneled for the August term, 1918,
of Butts Superior Court, beg leave to
make the following report:
Through our various committees
we have examined the books of all the
various county officers and find that
they are keeping them according to
their understanding of the law.
The reports of all the officers have
been handed in as required at this
term of court, and the same are at
tached hereto and made a part of our
records, and .ordered published.
Through our committee of the
Poor Farm we have found that the
farm fairly good cultivatable ,
condition, that there are five inmates,
one white and four colored, all of
whom are seemingly well cared for.
The stock of the farm consists of one
pair of good mules, five head of milk
cows, two calves, one male cow,
twelve head of hogs and six pigs.
We found supplies as follows: 25 bu.
old com, 100 lbs meat, 24 gallons
new syrup, (2 acres more to make),
20 or more bushels of peas, also found
30 acres of com and beans, 17 acres
cotton, 7 acres of peavine hay, %
Rare in sweet potatoes, plenty of farm
Machinery to run farm consisting of

GOOD BLOOD
Positive—Convincing Proof
Many so-called remedies (or anae
mia are only so in name. Their mak
n are afraid to prove their claims by
telling what their medicines contain.
The only way to be honest with the
people is to let them know what they
are paying for. Here is the Vinol
formula. When the doctor knows
what a medicine contains, it ceases
to be a "patent” medicine.

Any doctor mil tell you that the in
gredients of Vinol, as named above,
will enrich the blood and banish anae
mia and create strength. When the
Mood is pure and rich and red, the
t ody is strong and robust
You can prove this at our expense
because your money will be returned
t" Vinol does not improve your health.

costs but a few cents, and if it fails
to give easy relief in every case of
liver sluggishness and constipation,
you have only to ask for your money
back.
Dodson’s Liver Tone is a pleasant
tasting, purely vegetable remedy,
harmless to both children and adults.
Take a spoonful at night and wake
up feeling fine; no biliousness, sick
'headache, acid stomach or consti
pated bowels. It doesn’t gripe all
the next day like violent calomel.
We find the houses all ceiled and in
good repair.
Our committee on Public Buildings
reported the jail in as near a sanitary
condition as it is possible to keep it.
We find some repairing needed to be
done but on account of present labor
conditions the officers in charge have
been unable to have it done.
We find the court house in very
good shape as far as we could see, also
find that it is very well kept by the
janitor, and we commend him for his
faithful performance of duty.
We want to extend our sincere and
heartfelt thanks to the good ladies of
the town an dcounty for the interest
they have taken in the flowers around
the court house and for the nice hedge
they have et out around the walks,
which will add a great deal to the
beauty of the public square in a few
years.
The committee on Convict Camp
report the camp in good sanitary con
dition, and find in camp two sleeping
cars that will accommodate 12 convicts
each, one that will accommodate 18,
also find one dining car in good con
dition, and one not so good, two mule
machines, one in good condition, and
one out of shape.
We find 14 mules, 8 good ones and
6 plugs, also on plug pony, one sow
with eight pigs, five large hogs, and
three shoats.
We find eight mule drags, 3 three
way drags, one Pioneer 30-horse pow
er engine in good shape, also three
machines pulled by this engine, one
Mogu lditcher, in good condition, one
scarifier in good condition, six engine
dumps, four in good condition and
two not, one Wallace engine, 20-horse
in good condition, one Reliance ma
chine in good shape, one 2% ton
truck also in good condition, . one
roadster. Ford, not in good condition,
plenty of picks and shovels. We
find 15 felony prisoners and one mis
demeanor. We find the valuation of
the property to be $18,308.00.
The committee on County Commis
sioner’s books report them to be cor
rectly and neatly kept, and in accord
ance vsith the law so far as they are
able to determine, but were unable to
report the financial standing of the
county.
We recommend that a certified ac
countant be employed to examine the
books and acts of all the county offic
ers commencing at a period that will
enable the auditor t ogive information
sufficient to show the county’s exact
financial standing.
We recommend further that our
representative in the next legislature
pas s an act authorizing the annual
auditing of the county officers books.
We have examined the J. P. & N.
P. books and find them kept accord
ing to the law.
We find in the examination of the

COUGHED FIFTEEN YEARS
Coughs that hang on and grow
worse in the night and weaken the
ufferer are relieved by Foley’s Honey
and Tar oftener than by any other
remedy. R. F. Hall, Mabe, Va., writes
“For 15 years I was afflicted with a
troublesome bronchial cough and irri

and Tar relieved me; after taking
one bottle the cough ceased and has
not returned.” No medicine stands
