WHAT CATARRH IS
Science has shown that nasal catarrh
often indicates a general weakness of
the body and local treatments in the
form of snuffs and vapors only irritate
and do little if any good.
To correct catarrh you should treat
its cause by enriching your blood with
the oil-food in Scott’s Emulsion which
is a medicinal food and a building
tonic, free from any harmful drugs.
It is helping thousands. Try it. •

of Jackson was bid in for $1,105.
A house and lot at the camp ground
belonging to the estate of Mrs. Mat
tie A. Johnson was sold to Dr. Doster,
of Rocky Ford, Ga., for $750.
There was quite a good crowd pres
ent at public sales and the bidding
was rather spiiriited. The price of
$137 paid for the McClure tract at
Stark was the feature of the day’s
sales. This price shows how Butts
county farm lands are regarded, and
is also an indication of the prosper
ous condition of the country.

COTTON SOARS
AS TALK STOPS
Better Feeling Since Price
Fixing Dropped
MARKET STILL CLIMBING
AS SOON AS GOVERNMENT AN
NOUNCED PRICE FIXING HAD
BEEN DROPPED MARKET BE
GAN TO PICK UP
t
Following the announcement from
Washington that there will be no
price fixing of coton, for the present
at least, the price of the staple has
been advancing steadily for the past
few days. Cotton has already gain
ed sevral cents per pound and the pre
diction is made that the staple will
sell around 35 cents, or better, if the
government keeps its hands off.
Since the market has become “sta
bilized,” there is a better feeling in
the South. Cotton is being sold now
in considerable quantities and bus
iness is moving along in normal chan
nels. While there was talk of price
fixing the market slumped several
cents per pound, but little cotton was
sold and business suffered as a con
sequence.
Asa rule cotton growers seem wil
ling to sell this year’s crop at around
35 cents a pound. They not only
seem willing to sell at that figure, but
will invest large amounts in Liberty
Bonds.

BUY A BOND FOR BABY
More so than any war ever fought
the present world struggle is being
waged for the safety and protection;
of women and children. A lot of peo
ple who do not grasp the term to
“make the world safe for democracy,”
really do understand the meaning of
President Wilson’s phrase when it
is translated into more homely lan
guage—making the world a safe place
for women and children, That is what
“world democracy” means—a world
safe for women and children, that the
kiddies may play in the streets and
enjoy their golden childhood, that our
women may be safe in the security
of their homes without being moles
ted by beasts such as have overrun
large parts of Europe under the
guise of German “kultur.” To make
the world safe for our women and
children ten million bayonets are now
pointed toward Berlin and the heart
of kaiserdom.
